Corky from CROW-FM, Nicole Connolly (Stanwell) and Cr Keith Campbell spent this afternoon judging 50 Tractor Tattoo cut-outs … and no, Stanwell’s entry wasn’t in the competition!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

September 6, 2012<\/strong><\/p>\n

A “Gathering Of The Tractors” occurred in Kingaroy this afternoon when Tractor Tattoo judges Chris “Corky” Corcoran from CROW-FM, Nicole Connolly from Stanwell and Deputy Mayor Keith Campbell found themselves surrounded by 50 hand-decorated wooden tractors.<\/p>\n

Their task? To pick a winner and two runners-up.<\/p>\n

The tractors were entered in a competition for not-for-profit groups run by South Burnett Arts Inc in conjunction with the South Bunrett’s Tractor Tattoo Festival.<\/p>\n

The tractors motored in from all parts of the region – from Blackbutt to Windera.<\/p>\n

The judges carefully eyed off entries from kindergartens and schools, service clubs, arts and music groups, historical societies and even the Friends of the RSPCA.<\/p>\n

“The quality of these tractors is really outstanding,” Cr Campbell said.<\/p>\n

“It’s obvious that a lot of people have put in a lot of effort into making these and they’re just delightful. They really ought to be congratulated for it.”<\/p>\n

Nicole Connolly – from competition sponsor Stanwell – was equally impressed.<\/p>\n

“I’ve never been in a room with 50 decorated tractors before. It’s really hard to pick winners from so much great work.”<\/p>\n

But perhaps Corky put it best of all: “Mate,” he said, “these tractors are just awesome.”<\/p>\n

The judges took more than an hour to make their final selections, carefully inspecting and taking notes as they went around the room.<\/p>\n

But after a lot of haggling they finally picked the ultimate winners.<\/p>\n

And which ones are they?<\/p>\n

Well, we don’t know … and they’re not telling … until September 15.<\/p>\n

That’s when the major Tractor Tattoo spectacular will happen in Kingaroy’s Glendon Street Forecourt and when the next official “Gathering Of The Tractors” will occur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tractor Tattoo will be featured on Channel 7’s Great South East at 5:30pm Sunday, September 9.<\/strong><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n
