With the days ticking down to the centenary of the Gallipoli landing, just about every local town is planning something special \u2026 this time it’s Yarraman\u2019s turn.<\/p>\n

From today (Wednesday), Yarraman’s Heritage House will have a special display of World War I memorabilia for visitors to peruse.<\/p>\n

There are photographs and documents as well as intricate World War I dioramas made by Mick Bellam.<\/p>\n

Visitors will have to be quick to see these tiny models in Yarraman. They will only be at Heritage House for a week before they are packed off to go on display at Taras Hall at the Nanango RSL Club.<\/p>\n

However, the rest of the display will be at Heritage House until the end of April.<\/p>\n

Yarraman Historical Society president Helene Johnson said a highlight was a copy of the World War I diary of medic George Frederick Cherry. Private Cherry, the father of well-known Yarraman resident Esme Coultis, served in the 6th Field Ambulance from June 1915.<\/p>\n

The original is stored safely at the Maroochydore RSL but Yarraman House had a copy that visitors can flick through and read.<\/p>\n

Visitors will also be able to enjoy a cuppa and an Anzac biscuit (free, but a small donation would be welcome).<\/p>\n

Heritage House is open to the public from 9:00am to 3:00pm on weekdays and 10:00am-2:00pm on weekends.<\/p>\n

Entry to the World War I exhibition is free (and visitors can also enjoy a preview of the military museum display which will be officially opened on May 2).<\/p>\n

Entry to the rest of the museum costs $5.<\/p>\n
