Further lane closures will occur on the D’Aguilar Highway next week at the Blackbutt Range to allow work to progress.<\/p>\n

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington said significant progress was being made but a single-lane closure would be required around the clock next week for pavement works.<\/p>\n

“We appreciate the patience of road users during another week of single-lane closures,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“These closures are necessary to enable the temporary road surface to be maintained. During this time traffic will be permitted up the range on the hour and half-hour and down the range at a quarter-to and a quarter-past the hour.”<\/p>\n

She said the highway would also return to single-lane operation after the September\/October school holidays for works on the permanent road surface.<\/p>\n

“The bitumen and asphalt works required for the permanent surface will mean that a lane closure will need to be in place for about 10 weeks, 24-hours-a-day,” she said.<\/p>\n

“Once the permanent road surface is finished, the overall project will be nearing an end.”<\/p>\n

Unlike the wet weather impacts earlier this year, the current dry spell is enabling works to proceed without ongoing disruptions.<\/p>\n

“During the past year there has been more than 800mm of rainfall at the reconstruction site, and about a quarter of that occurred in June and July 2012,” Mrs Frecklington said.<\/p>\n

“This has caused a large amount of lost time on the project.”<\/p>\n

Weather permitting, the single lane arrangements will be in place from 8:00pm on Sunday, September 9, until 2:00pm on Saturday, September 15.<\/p>\n

This project is being delivered under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements, a joint Federal and State initiative.<\/p>\n

Under these arrangements, the Federal Government provides 75 per cent of the funding, with 25 per cent from the State Government.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
