There’s really no excuse to leave the South Burnett this weekend … there’s so many local events to enjoy!<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

At Maidenwell, the inaugural Maidenwell Marathon is being run on Saturday and Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

There are nine events occurring over the two days, ranging from 2.2km to 56km!<\/p>\n

On Saturday, all events start at 6:00am – 14km, 28km, 42.195km and 56km.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, events start between 6:00am and 9:00am, 2.2km, 5km, 10km, 21.1km and 42.195km.<\/p>\n

On Easter Sunday, there’ll also be markets to enjoy at Maidenwell from 8:00am to 2:00pm.<\/p>\n

And then on Sunday night, the always popular Maidenwell Bull Ride will be held behind the Maidenwell Hotel from 5:30pm.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In Kingaroy, there’s two representative games of rugby league to enjoy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

A round of the prestigious Cyril Connell Cup (U16s) and the Mal Meninga Cup (U18s) will be played on Easter Saturday at TJ O’Neill Oval.<\/p>\n

The U16s game, which features two Red Ants juniors, kicks off at 10:00am followed by the U18s match at 11:30am.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In Nanango, punters can enjoy a strong card of thoroughbred racing on Easter Saturday with Race 1 leaving the barrier at 1:40pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The meeting has a \u201cFloaty Frocks And Polka Dots\u201d theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best outfits to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field prizes.<\/p>\n

Roving judges will move through the crowds and award spot prizes to the best-dressed. There\u2019ll also be extra spot prizes for those dressed in Easter style (eg: bunny ears, tails or a great Easter bonnet), plus free Easter eggs for children.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Campdraft fans – and drafts are great fun and free to watch! – have two two-day events to choose from.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Kumbia & District Charity Campdraft will be held at the Kumbia Sportsgrounds off Bell Street while the Kragra Gold Watch Campdraft will be held at the Kragra campdraft ground, along with a kids’ gymkhana on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Both campdrafts run for two days (Saturday and Sunday).<\/p>\n

UPDATE: The Kumbia Campdraft has been postponed due to the weather.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Aviation enthusiasts should get on down to Wondai Airport for the four-day Australian Sports Rotorcraft Association (ASRA) Nationals. More than $2 million worth of gyrocopters are expected to be paying a visit from Good Friday to Easter Monday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The event is\u00a0being hosted by the South East Queensland Gyroplane Club, assisted by the Barambah District Aero Club and the South Burnett Regional Council.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If the number of boat trailers spotted on the highway is any indication, it’s going to be a big weekend of fishing at Lake Boondooma and Bjelke-Petersen Dam.<\/strong><\/p>\n

At BP Dam a “LARC”\u00a0 will be paying a visit over the weekend. LARCs are ex-military amphibian vehicles that run on the road and power through the water.\u00a0 Call in to the Yallakool Kiosk to book\u00a0 ($25 per person).<\/p>\n

The annual Yallakool Easter Fete will also be held on the foreshores of BP Dam from 7:30am to around noon on Easter Sunday. There’ll be a Jumping Castle, face painting and great stalls. The Easter Bunny will drop by about 9:00am.<\/p>\n

At Lake Boondooma, a charter boat is now up and running, just in time for the Long Weekend.<\/p>\n

* * *<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There’ll be live music to enjoy along with a special menu at Crane Wines on the Booie Range on Easter Saturday and Easter Sunday (they’ll be closed on Good Friday).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cranes are offering three “home cooked” meals at their undercover cellar door: a savoury crepe with fresh salad and home-made Worcestershire sauce; a warm chicken salad with chicken marinated in a mild chilli and peanut sauce on a fresh salad base; and just for Easter, an open fillet steak sandwich served on toasted sourdough with fresh salad and beetroot salsa.<\/p>\n
