The Kingaroy Art Gallery has received 30 entries from local artists for the 2015 South Burnett Regional Council\u2019s Acquisitive Art Competition.<\/p>\n

The theme is “The Australian Light Horse” and entries could be in any media.<\/p>\n

South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said more than half of the entries had been received in the Youth category, mainly from students at St Mary’s Catholic College.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil is very pleased with the quality of the entries and it is good to see a wide range of media such as paintings, sculpture, drawings and paper tole,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Arts Portfolio holder Cr Ros Heit said South Burnett artist Lyn Felsman would judge the entries on Friday, April 10.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cLyn will have a tough job of deciding who will take home the $1200 winner’s cheque,” Cr Heit said.<\/p>\n

“Lyn will also award the Second, Third and Youth category winners on the day.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil would like to invite our local community to come along to the Art Gallery and cast their vote for the People\u2019s Choice Award.\u201d<\/p>\n

The winners will be announced at the official opening of the exhibition on Saturday, April 11, at 10:30am.<\/p>\n

Mayor Kratzmann will present the Council awards while Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington will present the People’s Choice Award.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
