Goomeri junior cricketer Brooke Heness – part of the Murgon Flames’ all-girl team – has been awarded a grant under the Federal Government’s Local Sporting Champions program.<\/p>\n

Brooke will use the funding to attend the Queensland School Sport Cricket Championships.<\/p>\n

Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Wide Bay Warren Truss said the young men and women who received the grants had distinguished themselves as sporting representatives participating in State and National championships for the Wide Bay region.<\/p>\n

“I hope that this funding will assist them to take the next step towards achieving their sporting goals,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The $500 grant will help Brook cover the costs of participating in the cricket championships, including travel, equipment etc.<\/p>\n

In order to be eligible to receive a Local Sporting Champions grant, applicants:<\/strong><\/p>\n
