Many Bigpond customers in the South Burnett have been unable to access email for most of today after the carrier suffered a nationwide outage.<\/p>\n

The outage began at approximately 9:30am this morning.<\/p>\n

At 4:30pm this afternoon, a Telstra spokesman said the company was aware of the problem and the company’s technicians were trying to resolve it. <\/p>\n

However, the spokesman was unable to say what the cause of the problem was or how long it would take to fix.<\/p>\n

UPDATE 9:30pm:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Telstra reported at 6:00pm today that BigPond email services had been restored. <\/p>\n

Because of the nationwide extent of the outage, however, it may take until tomorrow to fully clear the backlog of emails in the system.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
