March 30, 2014<\/strong><\/p>\n

Many of the pre-season rugby league games pencilled in at Cherbourg on Saturday didn’t go ahead, disappointing local footy fans and the NITV\u00a0 crew which had come along to film the action.<\/p>\n

However,\u00a0 the TV crew did get the chance to film an enthusiastic U18s game between Murgon (plus a couple of Red Ants) and Cherbourg.<\/p>\n

In the end, the Hornets proved too strong, defeating Murgon 36-22 – but the last six points for Cherbourg were scored right on the final hooter.<\/p>\n

For Cherbourg, Ralph Gyemore and Errol Simpson both scored two tries, with sole tries to Peter Langton, Everyn Fisher and Barry Tapau; goals were kicked by Ralph Gyemore, Bowman Murray, Barry Tapau and Trevor Davidson.<\/p>\n

For Murgon, Elwyn Fewquandie continued his recent good form, scoring two tries and two conversions; Karl Berlin and Steven Watcho each scored one try and William Langton kicked one goal.<\/p>\n

Trials for the Under 14 and Under 16 girls were held at Murgon on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Selections were made for a carnival to be held on the Anzac Day weekend:<\/p>\n
