The Goomeri Show Society is celebrating its 90th birthday this weekend, the 75th Goomeri Show and the opening of its new pavilion … by a secret guest.<\/p>\n

Show Society members and other guests enjoyed a reunion dinner in the new pavilion on Friday night, the first official function to be held in the new building.<\/p>\n

The old pavilion could not be saved after a storm – and then a metre of water – wrecked the building two years ago.<\/p>\n

The new, modern pavilion has been built on higher ground which can never flood.<\/p>\n

Show Society president Amanda McArthur said the building would be officially opened at 2:00pm on Saturday, but southburnett.com.au<\/strong> could not prise out the name of the guest, which the society wants to be a surprise.<\/p>\n

A collection of memorabilia celebrating the history of the Goomeri Show has been gathered together and put on show inside the new pavilion.<\/p>\n

Other highlights of Saturday’s show include the ring events, Stud and Prime Beef Cattle competitions, a Championship Dog Show, a grand parade with the theme “Down Through The Years”, team penning, tug-o-war, bike v horse barrel races and fireworks.<\/p>\n
