A national stored grain information hotline has been established by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) to support growers with pest control practices.<\/p>\n

Growers seeking advice can now phone 1800 weevil (1800-933-845) to be put in contact with their nearest grain storage specialist.<\/p>\n

In Queensland, this specialist is Department of Agriculture and Fisheries senior development agronomist Philip Burrill.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hotline has been established as part the national grain storage extension project funded by GRDC,\u201d Mr Burrill said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAn online resource \u2013 the stored grain information hub \u2013 has also been launched as part of this project which contains articles, information and short videos on all facets of stored grain.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hub covers topics such as grain aeration, grain quality, storage facilities, grain storage economics, insect identification, fumigation, hygiene, structural treatments and insect and pest control.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe hub\u2019s articles are produced with a focus on integrating the latest research and development findings from DAF\u2019s and other States’ post-harvest grain protection teams into clear industry relevant advice.\u201d<\/p>\n
