The South Burnett Regional Council will hold community meetings at Blackbutt and Ironpot next week.<\/p>\n

The first meeting will be held at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall on Monday, March 23, at 6:30pm to provide residents with an update on Council\u2019s efforts to get a modern supermarket built in the town.<\/p>\n

Council recently called for expressions of interest from developers, and at this month’s general meeting voted to draw up a short list of preferred applicants from those who’d shown interest in the project, then invite them to submit tenders.<\/p>\n

The Blackbutt meeting will also update residents on kerbing and drainage work that will soon be undertaken in the town to remedy long-standing problems with drainage that occur whenever heavy rains fall.<\/p>\n

The meeting will also try to get the views of residents about whether they want to erect a statue to former international tennis star Roy Emerson in the town.<\/p>\n

Roy Emerson grew up in Blackbutt.<\/p>\n

The second meeting will be held at Ironpot Hall on Tuesday, March 24 at 6:30pm for residents of the Ironpot and Burrandowan areas.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss road maintenance in the area.<\/p>\n

The meeting will be followed by an informal barbecue dinner.<\/p>\n

Both meetings will be led by Mayor Wayne Kratzmann.<\/p>\n
