  1. Why isn’t the polling booth open Kingaroy to vote today. I have made the trip from Murgon but the gates are locked that the signs direct to?

    • Hi Glen … if you check the report above again, you’ll see that the early voting centre was not listed to be open on October 25 (Sunday)

  2. The State election is over and it seems now as if the virus is over too? What is going on?

Prior to the election we all were continuously getting bombarded day in and day out with all sorts of scary information by the Premier and her side-kicks scaring the bejesus out of all and sundry. It was COVID, COVID and nothing but COVID and NOW nothing at all! Is COVID over or what?

No more pressers, no nothing. What are we to believe now? Not getting told anything!! I do not understand if I should still stay terribly frightened or not!

    • Stay alert but not alarmed, Disgruntled. COVID is still with us, but fortunately there has only been one new case in Queensland in the past 24 hours and that was a returned overseas visitor in quarantine. There are currently eight active cases in the State, and all are in hospital. Hopefully, we won’t have to write any more COVID warning-type reports, but if community transmission breaks out, you will see the media – including us – ramping up the coverage again. The latest Queensland statistics are here

  3. Gosh News Desk; You actually missed my point by a country mile; I am very much well aware of the seriousness of the virus and I was really being very much cynical and also facetious.

The point I was trying to make was that Annastacia Palaszczuk was prior to the election going to the extreme scaring the bejesus out of all of us, just to win (successful, too, she was) and after the election she went into very quiet mode thereby showing that she really used COVID to win and to hell with the economy of the State. Hey that has got to look after itself, eh?

By the way, I believe that New South Wales has handled the COVID issue much better than Queensland. Total eradication of the virus can not and will not work. It is not possible as the virus is always lurking about somewhere. We just have to learn to live with it and make the best of our lives while continuing doing everything we can to keep safe! This can be done without destroying the economy.

Now the big job is ahead of us and Annastacia Palaszczuk has to stump up and get the show on the road as before the election she had sadly dropped the ball and without COVID things would have panned out a whole lot differently.
