Booie Hall hosted a special fundraiser on Saturday for rural charity Care Outreach organised by Kingaroy resident Glady Hood.
Glady told southburnett.com.au she was a little disappointed with the turnout but she was happy that she still managed to raise between $600 and $700 for Care Outreach.
Care Outreach is a non-denominational Christian organisation which provides assistance to families and individuals in rural and remote Australia.
A variety concert was held during the afternoon followed by an old-time dance and supper which continued to about 11:30pm.
A number of local artists donated their time to provide the entertainment, including singers Amber Goldsmith and Connie and Amanda Sempf, musicians Kevin Schultz, Kevin Owens and Steve Hood, and bush poetry by Bruce Webb.
The hall was also decorated with artwork by Glady, who is a member of the Kingaroy Friendly Art Group.
She said 40 of the acrylic works are to be transported to Mundubbera soon for distribution by the Uniting Church to people affected by this year’s floods.
