South Burnett Saints players turned out en masse on Saturday to sign-up for the 2018 season

Match 18, 2018

The South Burnett Saints AFL club has some big plans for 2018, including the re-introduction of junior teams to play in a mini local competition on Friday nights.

The Saints held a successful sign-on day for adults and chidlren at Lyle Vidler Oval on Saturday.

Women’s coach Dan Trace said the Saints Women’s team made it to the qualifying final last year, and were looking forward to another big year.

The squad is already large enough to form a team, but more players are also invited to sign up.

The Saints’ men also have plenty of players, but “will never say no to new players”.

The men’s first game for 2018 will be a practice match against the Chinchilla Suns on April 7 which will be played at Lyle Vidler Oval.

Round 1 of the competition will kick off on April 21.

Would-be players who missed out on signing up on Saturday should keep an eye on the club’s Facebook page.

A second sign-on day will be held, this time at a date to fixed, in Kingaroy Shoppingworld, or they could just come along to any training night.

Saints’ players train on Tuesday and Friday nights at Lyle Vidler Oval from 5:30pm.
