The best of Blackbutt was on show at the weekend during the bigger-than-ever Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt Festival.
The two-day event was spread across the town … at the showgrounds, at the head of the Rail Trail, in Les Muller Park and the Memorial Hall.
A popular new attraction was the Ken Mills Street Parade which wound its way down the D’Aguilar Highway and Hart Street to the showgrounds on Saturday afternoon.
Crowds lined the street to watch the cars, trucks and marchers.
The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail was a theme of the parade with displays by cyclists and horse riders.
At the rail head, there were market stalls, displays of working vintage machinery plus a unique Blackbutt invention … avocado games.
At Nukku Nook, Joel Thomas’ film, “A Journey Along The Upper Brisbane Valley Rail Trail”, was screened.
At the Blackbutt Showgrounds, the traditional “garden in a pot” and horticultural displays were accompanied by an orchid show, an exhibition by the Burnett Bird keepers, sculpture competition entries and demonstrations by the Timbertown Woodworkers.
In Les Muller Park, children were kept busy with face-painting, workshops and a jumping castle.
The inaugural Boots’n Bulldust “Bands At The Butt” talent quest was in the Memorial Hall on Saturday, along with photographic and historic displays, and avocado cooking demonstrations by South Burnett chef Jason Ford.
