The Burnett Highway is now open after last night’s fatal collision between two trucks.

Police said the highway re-opened about 10:30am after the wreckage of the two trucks was cleared away.

Earlier in the night:

Police are currently at the scene of a fatal cattle truck crash at Booubyjan.

Initial investigations suggest about 8:30pm on Tuesday a B-Double carrying cattle and another truck, carrying a caravan, collided at the intersection of the Burnett Highway and Murgon-Gayndah Road.

One driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other driver, a 55-year-old male, was transported to Toowoomba Hospital by RACQ CareFlight helicopter with head and chest injuries.

The Burnett Highway is currently closed and is expected to remain so overnight. Diversions will be put in place.

Cattle injured in the collision are being euthanased on site.

Five fire crews, including a rescue unit from Maryborough, were called to the incident. SES units are also assisting with traffic control.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Earlier this evening, a woman aged in her 50s was taken to Kingaroy Hospital about 5:30pm with minor injuries after a rollover on Old Esk Road at South Nanango.
