Federal Member for Flynn Ken O’Dowd has welcomed the announcement that the South Burnett regional council area has been activated for Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payments (AGDRP).

“Parts of this region have been severely impacted by recent flood waters with extensive damage to homes, agricultural infrastructure and livestock. Despite this, the Banana region and affected parts of the Central Highlands are yet to be activated,” Mr O’Dowd said.

“This is great news for the South Burnett and should ease some of the pressure on local communities as the recovery continues.

“I am still pushing hard to see the Banana and affected pockets of the Central Highlands activated. I have continued to lobby the responsible ministers; Mr Ludwig and Mr Dreyfus, on this and fortunately it appears the wheels are turning.

“I am hoping to see a result for these regions in the very near future.”
