The air was filled with the sounds of ragtime jazz, blues, minuets and even the occasional nursery rhyme when students of the Chrissa Brown Music Studio put on their annual Piano Concert on Sunday afternoon.

Proud parents and friends listened to pieces performed by Chrissa’s piano students at St John’s Primary School Hall, followed by afternoon tea.

Students ranged from beginners preparing for their AMEB Level 1 exams up to seniors who’ve passed Level 5.

All of them gave almost note-perfect performances of everything from “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” to Debussy’s “Le Petite Negre” and Gershin’s “Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off”.

Most students played solo, but there were also several duets as well as a performance by South Burnett entertainer (and student) Valerie Mathews who played and sang Adele’s “Someone Like You”.

Teacher Chrissa Brown emceed the concert and ended it with a performance of short piece by Mozart.

Ms Brown runs the music school part-time during school terms, and also teaches at St John’s school part time as well.

The music school will now break up for summer recess. It will resume lessons in late January next year.
