Queensland Premier Campbell Newman has escaped serious injury after being a passenger in a car involved in an accident on the Sunshine Coast this morning.
The Premier was travelling to address the LGAQ and QTC Financial Summit at the Twin Waters resort on Ocean Drive when the incident occurred.
Onlookers reported the Premier’s car was hit by a vehicle which had allegedly failed to stop at an intersection on the corner of Nojoor Rd and Ocean Drive.
Police and the Queensland Ambulance Service were called to the scene as a precaution but no serious injuries were initially reported.
Mr Newman continued on to the summit where he gave a key address.
He will later return to Brisbane for a medical examination.
