Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington has invited South Burnett residents to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee by holding their very own Big Jubilee Party for the chance to win a Royal Tour package to London.

“In honour of the Queens’s Diamond Jubilee, Queenslanders have been given a one-off public holiday on Monday, June 11,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“This is the perfect opportunity for people across the state to hold their own parties to celebrate and commemorate this special event.”

Deb is encouraging everyone to hold their own Diamond Jubilee celebration with neighbours, friends or their local community.

“Big Jubilee Party events can be traditional street parties, high teas or a picnic lunch – big or small,” Mrs Frecklington said.

Queenslanders can enter the details of their Big Jubilee Party to go into the draw to win fantastic prizes, including a trip for four to London, thanks to Qantas.

The first 50 events to enter will also receive a free Diamond Jubilee merchandise pack.

Queensland primary school students are also invited to join in the celebrations by designing a menu “fit for a Queen” as part of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee school competition.

Teachers can register to receive a competition pack for their class.

The Queen is only the second British monarch to have reached a 60-year reign after her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria celebrated her Diamond Jubilee in 1897.
