Deb Frecklington, Governor Penelope Wensley and Lady Flo Bjelke-Petersen catch up in Brisbane … an opportunity to swap recipes?

May 17, 2012

Queensland’s 54th Parliament was officially opened by Governor Penelope Wensley yesterday in a ceremony held in the Legislative Council Chamber in George Street, Brisbane.

“The Opening Day was wonderful and full of ceremony. It was terrific to be able to share the experience with my family and catch up with supporters such as Lady Flo Bjelke-Petersen,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“I’m now looking forward to getting down to business and representing the people of our Nanango Electorate. In particular, I’m hoping to bring a good rural and regional perspective to the Parliament to ensure our issues are top of mind.”

NB. Lady Flo’s position as Kingaroy’s political culinary champion may be under threat after the recent Kingaroy Show.

Deb Frecklington may not have perfected pumpkin scones yet, but she’s a dab hand at chocolate cake. She scored first prize and “Champion” status in Section 15, “Chocolate Cakes”.

Deb revealed afterwards on Facebook that it wasn’t her first show win, either: “That cake recipe won three years in a row at the Ardlethan show … made by me,” she said.
