Kingaroy Dance Academy Annual Concert
Kingaroy Dance Academy will be holding its dance concert this evening at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre (KPAC) at Kingaroy State High School. The concert will get under way at 4:00pm (doors open at 3:00pm and close at 3:45pm). This is the KDA's third annual Dance Concert. The first half of the production will take guests on an ocean adventure to the story of "Moana". The second half, "Dance to the Music", will feature songs from "The Greatest Showman", "Mary Poppins", Michael Jackson and Elvis Presley, plus some great dance songs. La Creme Dance Academy Concert - Nanango
La Creme Dance Academy will be staging their annual concert at the Nanango State High School Hall at 54 Elk Street, Nanango at 6:30pm< tonight. Christmas Dance - Inverlaw

The Joy Of Christmas - Wondai
The South Burnett's 2018 Christmas season will continue today when the South Burnett Chorale present the third performance of their annual Christmas Charity Concert series, which this year is called "The Joy Of Christmas". The concert will be held at Wondai's Anglican Church at the corner of Bramston and Baynes Streets from 2:30pm to around 4:00pm this afternoon, and it'll be full of Christmas favourites from classic to contemporary numbers. Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Festival Of Small Halls - Cooranga North
The Festival of Small Halls will be running at Cooranga North Hall at 43 Cooranga North-Niagara Road in Cooranga North from 6:00pm until 10:00pm tonight. The Festival tours small halls all around Australia, and last year's Cooranga North event was a sell-out. Tonight's performance will feature music from the OShea family and there'll also be face-painting, food and a licensed bar operating onsite. Tickets are $25.51 and can be booked online. A full round of cricket games will be played in the South Burnett today. Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. Christmas Around The World - Blackbutt
The Blackbutt Singers will be performing their "Christmas Around The World" concert at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt this afternoon. Doors will open at 1:30pm and the concert - which will feature a variety of traditional and contemporary Christmas tunes sung in beautiful harmonies - will get underway at 2:00pm. Blackbutt Christmas Mural Unveiling
The Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club will be kicking off Blackbutt's Christmas celebrations in Les Muller Park at the corner of Hart and Coulson Streets at 10:00am this morning with the unveiling of the town's traditional Christmas mural. There'll also be a free sausage sizzle and the official launch of the town's Christmas Festival, the bulk of which occurs from Friday to Sunday. Everyone is welcome! Nanango Christmas Race Meeting
The Nanango Race Club will be holding their annual Christmas Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 11:00am to around 5:00pm today. Today's races will have a ""Christmas Red & Green with a touch of Gold/Silver"" theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best Christmas hats and/or outfits to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field prizes. The race club's popular Champagne@the Bit Bar will be serving up platters all day if you fancy a bite; a licensed bar and BBQ will be operating under the extended covered area; the race club canteen will be open for sit-down dining; children will be well catered for with face-painting and ice creams plus a visit from Santa Claus; and there'll be plenty of bookmakers and an on-course tote available in the betting ring to take your wagers. A lot of people like to use the Christmas race meeting for festive season parties and you're welcome to picnic on the lawns or even bring your own marquee if you like. This will be a 5 race meeting and buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and the rear of Nanango's Fitzroy Hotel at 12:20pm. Kingaroy Community Christmas Carols
Kingaroy's annual Community Christmas Carols service will be held at the Kingaroy Town Hall Forecourt in Glendon Street, Kingaroy from 5:00pm this afternoon (carols start at 6:00pm). This year's gathering is being presented by the Kingaroy District Ministry Association and several sponsors and will feature performances by several local orchestras and choirs. Food stalls will be offering food, soft drinks and other beverages, and families who want to sit near the front should bring blankets and cushions to sit on (BYO chairs if you want to sit further back). An offering will also be taken up during the program to support the Kingaroy Schools Chaplaincies. As usual, this afternoon's carols service is a great, completely free, family-friendly event to which everyone is invited. Note: In the unlikely event of rain, the carols will relocate inside the Town Hall.

Alcoholics Anonymous - Nanango
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. The Goomeri Lions Christmas Carnival will be on again at Breitkreutz Oval, behind the swimming pool. The fun will kick off at 4:00pm. The South Burnett is the only inland region being consulted in the two-month window the State Government has set for this consultation process. The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). Summer Solstice
Today is the Summer Solstice when the Sun reaches the most southerly point in the sky (which it will do at 10:23am, Queensland time). The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year in the southern hemisphere, and from now on the sun will set a few minutes earlier each day until we reach the Autumn Equinox on March 21, 2019 when the Sun crosses the equator and the lengths of day and night are exactly equal. After this, sunsets will continue happening a little bit earlier each day until we reach the Winter Solstice on Saturday, June 22 next year.

Wondai Christmas Carnival
Wondai's traditional Christmas Eve Carnival will be held in Coronation Park off Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 5:00pm onwards this evening when the BBQs fire up and the hamburgers and sausages start to sizzle.
