The South Burnett Arthritis & Osteoporosis Support Group will be running Tai Chi classes at the Uniting Church Hall in Alford Street, Kingaroy this morning. The classes aim to help relieve pain and improve quality of life, relieve stress, sharpen concentration, and improve balance, posture and mobility. Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution. Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street (opposite the peanut silos) will be officially opening their latest exhibitions from 6:00pm to 8:00pm this evening. This month, the Gallery will be featuring "Sense of Place: My Response to the Namibian Landscape" by artist Shan Wood, and "Your Way and Mine” by the Canvases and Cupcakes art group. Old Time Dancing Classes

Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be hosting “Seed” by Meg Hansen in the front gallery; the “Relations Art Exhibit” by Pat van Kempen, Trish Corneal and Raewyn Cardew in the main gallery; and "Where I Am" by Kane Brunjes in the rear gallery. The Sound Of Music - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society's production of the all-time classic "The Sound Of Music" will be having its fourth performance at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre at the end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 7:00pm tonight. The Sound Of Music began in 1959 as a stage musical composed by Rodgers and Hammerstein, and become internationally famous when it was converted into a movie in 1965 starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, winning five Academy Awards (including Best Picture and Best Director) and becoming the highest grossing film of all time for the next five years. Tickets to tonight's performance are $25 for adults, $20 for pensioners and students (under 4s are free) or $100 for a family of 2 adults and 3 children, and can be booked online. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). League fans in search of A-grade action should go to Jack O'Chin Oval in Cherbourg today, where the Cherbourg Hornets will be playing the Wondai Wolves at home. The day will start with U6s/U8s at 8:00am, then U10s at noon and U12s at 1:00pm before the A-Grade clash between the Hornets and Wolves at 2:00pm, followed by an U18s match between the South Burnett Eagles and South Toowoomba at 4:00pm. Meanwhile, junior footy fans should head to Fred Kassulke Oval on the D'Aguilar Highway at Nanango, where Nanango, Kingaroy and Murgon juniors will be battling it out. The day will kick off with U6s/U8s at 8:00am, then U7s/U9s at 9:00am, and then an U16s match between Murgon and Dalby at 10:00am. Proston Rally
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding their quarterly CAMS Khanacross Multiclub Rally at their racing track this weekend (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston on the Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will commence around 11:00am this morning and there'll also be burnouts from around 5:30pm, with racing wrapping up around 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a hearty breakfast supplied by the Proston Lions club early on Sunday morning. The Nanango Race Club will be holding their annual Nanango Cup Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'Aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 11:00am to around 5:00pm today. Today's races will have a "Classic Black and White" fashion theme and everyone is encouraged to dress up in their most stylish outfits and/or accessories to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field spot prizes. The race club's popular Champagne@TheBit Bar will be serving up platters all day if you fancy a bite; a licensed bar and BBQ will be operating under the extended covered area; the race club canteen will be open for sit-down dining; and there'll be plenty of bookmakers and an on-course tote available in the betting ring to take your wagers. This meeting patrons can also enjoy two mini-grandstands that will be erected on the grounds - but if it rains there's heaps of undercover seating too! The South Burnett Musical Comedy Society's production of the all-time classic "The Sound Of Music" will be having its final South Burnett performance at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre at the end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy at 2:00pm this afternoon. The Sound Of Music began in 1959 as a stage musical composed by Rodgers and Hammerstein, and become internationally famous when it was converted into a movie in 1965 starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, winning five Academy Awards (including Best Picture and Best Director) and becoming the highest grossing film of all time for the next five years. Kingaroy QCWA 97th Birthday

Official Opening Of The Link - Nanango
The Link - the connecting route between the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail terminus at Yarraman and the South Burnett Rail Trail railhead in Kingaroy - will be officially opened at the former Nanango Railway Station platform at Pioneer Park in Nanango at 10:30am this morning by representatives from Heritage Bank Nanango and Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington. The Link makes use of an old stock route and low traffic roads to connect the two rail trails, and provides a safe route for cyclists, walkers and horse riders to pass between them along a trail that's 305km combined, end to end. Heritage Bank Nanango paid for the signage of the route, as well as a new brochure now available at some South Burnett Visitor Information Centres which maps it.

Saturday Rugby League - Murgon
Rugby league fans looking for action should head to the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon today. Games will get underway at 8:30am with an U12s Minor Semi-Final between Murgon and Wondai, followed at 9:30am by an U12s Major Semi between Kingaroy and Nanango. At 10:25am, an U14s Minor Semi will be played between Chinchilla and Wondai, and then an U14s Major Semi between Nanango and Murgon will be played at 11:40am. After this, an U16s match between Murgon and Toowoomba Souths will wrap up the day's junior games at 12:55pm, and all attention will turn to local A-grade matches. At 2:00pm, Kingaroy's Red Ants will play the Wondai Wolves in a Minor Semi-Final, and this will be followed at 3:45pm with the second A-grade match of the day between Murgon's Mustangs and Cherbourg's Hornets, who'll be playing a Major Semi-Final. A canteen will be operating at the grounds and since it's near the end of the season, spectators can expect to see some very lively, hard-fought rugby league action across all grades.

Fred Brophy’s Boxing Troupe - Kilkivan

Saturday Soccer - Wondai
The Preliminary Finals of the South Burnett's local soccer competition will be played at the Wondai soccer fields north of the Wondai Sportsgrounds on the Bunya Highway this afternoon. Today's matches will see the Gunnettes play Barambah in the Women's Division at 1:00pm, and this will be followed by a clash between Wests and Gunners in the Men's Division at 3:00pm. The Preliminaries are the second-last match of the season, with the winners of today's matches going on to next week's Grand Finals in Nanango and the losers exiting the competition. As a result, both games are expected to be fiercely contested and spectators should enjoy a really great afternoon of football. A canteen will be running on site and there's no admission fee to watch the games.

The first full day of the 2nd annual Kingaroy BaconFest will be held in and around Kingaroy today, kicking off with a community fun run and cycle rides along the South Burnett Rail Trail that will open for registrations at the Kingaroy entrance to the South Burnett Rail Trail at 7:00am. Meanwhile - in Glendon Street - there'll be markets from 10:00am along with live music and cooking demonstrations, bacon eating contests, a fashion parade (at 1:00pm), and children's entertainment that will run until 4:00pm. The Sunpork Smoke-Off BBQ competition will commence at 5:00pm, and there'll be more cooking demonstrations and bands until everything wraps up around 8:30pm. Meanwhile, the Kingaroy Cinema will be screening the Kevin Bacon movie 'Footloose' at its Short Street complex. BaconFest will conclude tomorrow with a ticketed Long Table Breakfast at 7:00am, and a second day of markets, cooking demonstrations and athletics events from 10:00am to 3:00pm before the BBQ cook-off winners are announced at 4:00pm. Merle is one of the “leven” children born to Doris and Ned Lonsdale who lived in Proston for many years. This book recounts stories of their childhood on an Abbeywood dairy farm from the 1950s through to 1983. Five of the children attended Proston State School and many began their working lives in Proston. Merle herself was a telephonist on the manual exchange.
