South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Heritage Nanango Country Muster
The annual four-day Heritage Nanango Country Music Muster will get underway today at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango. This year's festival will feature more than a fourteen top bush balladeers and traditional country music artists including Dean Perrett, Brian Letton, Lloyd Back and Jeff Brown. A canteen and bar will be operating all week and caravan and camping sites are available at the showgrounds (phone 0429-631-273 to book a site). RUOK Day Community Breakfast - Kingaroy
Today is RUOK Day - a day to raise awareness about suicide prevention - and a free community breakfast will be held in the Glendon Street Town Hall forecourt in Kingaroy between 6:30am and 9:00am to mark it. The brekkie is being organised by the South Burnett Suicide Prevention Working Group and everyone is welcome.
RUOK Day Community March - Cherbourg
An RUOK Day Community March organised by the Cherbourg Suicide Prevention Action Network will be held at Wakka Wakka Park (across from the AIM Church) in Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg at 10:00am this morning. The march will be run in a socially distanced, COVID-Safe way and everyone is welcome.
RUOK Dessert Night - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Suicide Prevention Group and Centacare Family Services will be wrapping up a big RUOK Day by hosting an RUOK Dessert Night at St Mary's parish hall at 15 Albert Street, Kingaroy from 6:30pm this evening. COVID Vaccination Clinic - Cherbourg
The Darling Downs Hospital & Health Service will be running a COVID Vaccination Clinic using Pfizer vaccines at Cherbourg Hall in Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg from 8:00am to 4:30pm today. Vaccination is free and everyone is welcome - just bring your Medicare card and a pen. The clinic will run all week but today is primarily for people getting their 2nd shot to be fully vaccinated. Chiggy's Skateboarding Workshop - Blackbutt
CTC Youth Services will be running a skateboarding workshop for young people aged 12 to 24 at the Blackbutt Skate Park at the end of Roy Emerson Way in Blackbutt from 10:00am to 2:30pm today. Everyone is welcome and all gear will be provided. More details? Phone CTC Youth on (07) 4162-7788.
MBDA Breakfast Meeting
The Murgon Business and Development Association will be holding its monthly meeting at the Royal Hotel at the corner of Gore and Lamb streets in Murgon at 6:30am this morning (entry is via Gore Street). The MBDA represents the interests of the businesses and community of Murgon and districts, and monthly meetings discuss new developments in the area and community projects the group are currently undertaking and/or considering, as well as up-coming events. Breakfast is $19 per head and an RSVP to Margaret on (07) 4168-2922 by 4:00pm on Wednesday, September 8 is necessary for catering purposes. All interested people are very welcome to attend.
South Burnett Gem & Fossicking Club
The South Burnett Gem and Fossicking Club will be holding their regular Thursday meeting at their club's workshop in the shed at the rear of 44 Alford Street, Kingaroy from 8:30am to around 2:30pm today. Coopers Gap CCC Meeting - Bell
The Coopers Gap Community Consultative Committee will be meeting at Bell Bunya Community Centre in Bell from 1:00pm to around 2:30pm this afternoon for an update on the development of AGL's Coopers Gap Wind Farm, and issues related to it. All interested people are welcome to attend as observers, but COVIDSafe restrictions apply and intending guests will need to contact Sue Hogan by email beforehand to obtain an invitation.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Wesleyan Food Hampers - Nanango
Wesleyan Grace Community Food Hampers will be available at 36 Fitzroy Street, Nanango from 8:00am to 12:00 noon today. Food hampers are available for a modest price ($30 to $40) for people facing financial difficulties.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items). And anyone who's finding it hard to make ends meet is very welcome to make use of it. More details? Phone James on 0438-071-658. Alcoholics Anonymous - Kingaroy
Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution.
