South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Blackbutt Arts, Crafts and Christmas Fair
Blackbutt will be celebrating the festive season with an Arts and Crafts Fair at Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt that will run from 10:00am to 8:00pm today, along with a free Blackbut Lions Christmas Fair that will get underway at the Hall at 5:00pm and run through to around 10:00pm tonight. The Arts and Crafts Fair is the perfect place to pick up beautiful, hand-crafted Christmas gifts; and the Christmas Fair will feature games, carols, a visit from Santa and lots of amusements for children. Both events are fmily friendly and all activities are free. Food and drinks will also be available, and everyone is welcome!
Inverlaw Hall Christmas Dance
A Christmas Dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late this evening. Music will be supplied by Mystique and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door draw and a few Yuletide surprises. Kingaroy Bowls Club Bingo
The Kingaroy Bowls Club at 141 Youngman St, Kingaroy will be running bingo matches from 7:30pm this evening with over $1000 in prizes on offer. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1404
Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets - and because this will be the last Nanango markets before Christmas, Santa could also be paying a visit to delight young market-goers. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Goomeri Christmas Carnival
The Goomeri Lions' popular annual Christmas Carnival will be held at the Breitkreutz Pavilion at the Goomeri Sportsgrounds in McIvor Street, Goomeri from 4:00pm until late today. This year's Carnival will feature live music, a bar and BBQ, food stalls, a coffee van, ice creams, sno cones, fairy floss, popcorn, soft drinks and local business stalls. There'll also be a free jumping castle, face painting, Christmas carols and pony rides to keep children amused, plus fun games and competitions and a surprise visit by Santa Claus bearing gifts, courtesy of Goomeri businesses. The whole night will be capped off with the Northern Agriservices Giant Fireworks Display after dark. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Byte Nite - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC will be hosting a Byte Nite from 7:00pm to around 11:00pm tonight for Murgon and Cherbourg youngsters at Murgon's Jubilee Swimming Pool in Gore Street. Children can play a range of fun and entertaining games and pursue other amusements for free during the course of the night, as well as get a free meal and a ride home afterwards if they need one, all under the supervision of local volunteers. Byte Nite is an initiative of the PCYC and Murgon Business and Development Association to tackle youth crime in the district by giving youngsters something to do on a Saturday night, and anyone who'd like to volunteer to help this community-driven initiative in any way should contact Sgt Rene Bond at the PCYC on (07) 4168-1889 for more information.
Kilkivan Christmas Carols
Kilkivan will be holding a community Christmas Carols service at Lions Park at the corner of James and Hall Streets from 5:00pm this evening. The get-together will feature traditional and modern Christmas carols along with a retelling of the birth of Jesus in Nazareth, and there'll be a free sausage sizzle on offer and cold drinks as well. Ken Baines Disco - Kingaroy
A Ken Baines Disco with a Christmas theme will be held at Saint Mary's Parish Hall in Albert Street, Kingaroy, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm this evening. About 30 young people with disabilities usually attend, along with their carers. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in a Christmas theme - there'll be prizes for the best-dressed - and admission is $5.
Murder At Crimson House - Kingaroy
The fourth performance of the South Burnett Musical Comedy Society's theatre restaurant production "Murder At Crimson House" will be held at the Trades Hall inside Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 6:30pm tonight. Tickets for a two-course dinner and the show are $40 per person and need to be booked online. Two more performances will be held at the same time and venue next Friday and Saturday night.
Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon - Nanango
The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the final performance of their latest production "Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon" at their playhouse at the corner of Elk and George Streets, Nanango at 7:30pm tonight (doors open at 7:00pm). Tickets are $20 for adults or $15 for concessions and include supper. Maidenwell Christmas Tree
The annual Maidenwell Christmas Tree will be held at Maidenwell Hall in Pool Street, Maidenwell from 7:00pm tonight. This annual get-together - held primarily for students at Tanduringie State School and local children - is organised by the Maidenwell QCWA and will feature $2 sausage sizzles and $5 steakette burgers, $1 raffles for fruit and veggies, and carol singing until Santas arrives at around 7:30pm. After this, the night will conclude with a shared supper (so please bring a plate). All Maidenwell and district residents are welcome!
Nanango Parkrun
The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event (search for "Ros Gregor Trail" to find the group - but if you can't find it, just register and bring along the barcode).
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
SBCO Community Christmas Concert
The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be holding a free Christmas Community Concert at Kingaroy Town Hall in Glendon Street, Kingaroy at 5:30pm this evening (doors open at 5:00pm). Optional meals that include a sausage or steak burger, salads, dessert and tea, coffee or punch will be available at interval ($15 for adults or $10 for children 12 and under), but they need to be be pre-booked online by Wednesday, December 4. La Creme Dance Academy End Of Year Concert
The La Creme Dance Academy will be hosting the second (and final) performance of their End Of Year Concert at Nanango State High School hall at the end of Cairns Street, Nanango at 6:30pm this evening. Students from all the dance school's grades will give dance performances, many themed on the Disney animated classic "Aladdin", in a spectacular show. Tickets to the concert at $16.85 per head and will be available at the door if not already sold out.
Arthur Black - Wondai
Entertainer Arthur Black will be performing at the Hotel Cecil in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until around 11:30pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the hotel on (07) 4168-5460.
