Kingaroy Speedway Spring Spectacular
The South Burnett Speedway will roar into life at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy tonight with its Spring Spectacular meeting. Tonight's get-together will feature the Queensland AMCA Title, Round 2 of the EDGE Automotive & Performance Street Stock Series, Round 2 of the Junor Sedan Allstar Series, plus fast-paced battles between Modified Sedans and Production Sedans. Gates will open at 2:00pm, racing will start at 4:00pm and the excitement will continue until around 10:30pm tonight. Admission is $25 for adults, $15 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners or $65 for a family of two adults and up to three students (children 12 and under are free). Everyone is welcome! Note: This event is being run under COVID Safe conditions, so some restrictions will apply.
Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Proston Rally
The Proston Car Rally Club will be holding their quarterly CAMS Khanacross Multiclub Rally at their racing track this weekend (the club's track is located 7.5km west of Proston on the Proston-Boondooma Road). Racing will commence around 11:00am this morning and there'll also be burnouts from around 6:00pm, with racing wrapping up around 2:00pm tomorrow afternoon. Up to 50 cars attend Proston Rally Club meetings from all over Queensland and NSW and spectators are very welcome. There'll be a BBQ and soft drinks stand running throughout the event, as well as a hearty breakfast supplied by the Proston Lions club early on Sunday morning. Hot showers, toilets and free camping are available on site too. Admission to the Rally is 100% free for spectators, $50 for adult participants and $25 for juniors. More details? Phone 0458-689-446.
Olive Grove Picnic With Producers - Moffatdale
An Olive Grove Picnic with Producers will be held at 1468 Barambah Road in Moffatdale from 11:00am to 5:00pm today. The event has been jointly organised by Clovely Estate, Farm 2 Fork Collective, The Saucy Fork and Pursers Coaches and will take the form of a family picnic amongst Clovely's olive groves. Entry tickets are $6.50pp via Eventbrite (available until November 6) and guests should BYO blankets or chairs and lawn games. The Saucy Fork will have grazing platters for two available for pre-purchase at $30 each (phone 0416-142-044 to order) and Pursers will provide return bus transport between Kingaroy, Murgon and Moffatdale for $10 per head for guests who'd prefer it (phone (07) 4168-1533 to book a seat). Clovely Estate wines will be available to purchase onsite (no BYO alcohol is allowed).
Open Mic Night - Kingaroy
The Carrollee Hotel in King Street, Kingaroy will be holding an Open Mic Night from 7:30pm until late this evening, with a backline supplied by local band Skin & Bone. Beginners & Improvers Show - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be holding a Beginners and Improvers Show at their grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 8:00am today. This will be a COVID Safe event and will be followed by an Open Show at the same time and venue tomorrow. All keen horse people are very welcome to come along as either participants ($6 per class) or spectators (free).
Remembrance Day Rifle Shoot
The Wondai Rifle Club in Rifle Range Road, Wondai will be holding a Remembrance Day Shoot from 10:00am onwards today in place of its traditional Anzac Day Shoot, which was cancelled this year due to the pandemic. All owners of bolt action .303 rifles and/or bolt action military rifles are encouraged to bring them along (as well as ammunition and a $50 entry fee) for a fun day's shooting on the club's 300m, 400m and 500m ranges. Lunch is included in the entry price and everyone is welcome! Note: Today's event has been organised in conjunction with the Kingaroy, Wondai and Murgon RSL clubs in advance of Remembrance Day, which will be held next Wednesday, November 11.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's cricketers will be playing in Kingaroy, Kumbia, Nanango, Wondai and Murgon today. In A Grade, Murgon Crusaders will play Gympie Colts at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon and Southern District Devils will play Gympie Valleys at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy, both at 12:30pm. In B Grade, Wooroolin Warriors will play the Murgon Diggers at Kingaroy State School at 12:30pm; Kumbia Rattlers will play Cherbourg at the Kumbia sportsgrounds in Gordon Street, Kumbia at 12:30pm; and Nanango's Scorpions will play Wondai at the Nanango Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street, also at 12:30pm (Kingaroy Services has the bye). Finally - in Juniors - Kingaroy Burnett Water will play Kingaroy Northern Agriservices at Taabinga State School in Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy 8:00am in the Stage 2 competition; and in the Stage 3 competition, Kingaroy Burnett Water will play Murgon at the Wondai Cricket Grounds off the Bunya Highway at Wondai, also at 8:00am. Spectators are very welcome at all matches but must observe proper social distancing.
Beginners Running Course - Kingaroy
Kingaroy's Go Getta Girls will be holding a Beginner Running Course at Memorial Park in Haly Street from 6:45am (for a 7:00am start) to around 9:30am this morning. The course is for women over 18 who are interested in learning to run or improving their running. It covers basic running technique, warm ups, stretches, hill running and running-specific strength exercises. If you'd like to take part you should bring comfy clothes, shoes to run in, a hat, water, a towel and perhaps sunscreen. The course is completely free and it's a pre-requisite for joining the Go Getta Girls, but joining the group is entirely optional and there's no pressure to join. More details? Goomeri Food Vans Night
Goomeri will be holding another of their new Food Van Nights from 5:00pm to around 8:00pm this evening at Goomeri's Market Square behind Joe's Grand Hotel. The event will feature a range of food vans from Gympie and the Sunshine Coast offering dishes that are usually unavailable locally (unless you cook them yourself), and it's being run as a fund-raiser for the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival. This is a family friendly, pet friendly and COVID Safe outing with plenty of chairs and tables for you to eat dinner at. There's also no admission charge and everyone is welcome!
Bowls Club Bingo - Kingaroy

Saturday Night Blow-Out With DJ Richter - Kingaroy
DJ Richter will be spinning the platters at Kingaroy's Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until late tonight - and he'll be running karaoke sessions as well if you feel like giving it a red hot go. Art Exhibition Opening - Kingaroy
CANCELLED: The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) will be opening its latest exhibition at 6:00pm tonight. This month's exhibition - "Antfest 2020 – Showing Off" - will feature works from the Jumping Ant Arts Group including watercolours, weaving, wearable art, pottery, prints, paintings in acrylic, pen and wash and oils, silver and copper jewellery, hand-hooked rugs and 3-D art. Members of the group will be on hand to discuss their works, and there'll be light refreshments available as well. After tonight's opening, the exhibition will remain on display from 10:00am to 4:00pm weekdays until the end of the month. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. Note: This event was cancelled on Wednesday November 4 due to unforeseen circumstances. However, the exhibition will remain on display daily until the end of the month and admission to view it is free.
Cooyar Trail Ride
CANCELLED: This year's annual Cooyar Trail Ride will be held at the Cooyar Showgrounds in Rangemore Road, Cooyar from 8:00am this morning until around 3:00pm this afternoon. The Ride is a non-competitive, recreational event hosted by the Cooyar SS P&C and normally runs over a full weekend. But this year - thanks to COVID - it will be a single day event and all riders will be restricted to an open loop circuit across varied terrain that includes areas of open and timbered riding, hills, rocks, gullies, and a few hill climbs for those who love the extra challenge. Participation fees are $80 per rider plus AMA membership, and pre nomination is required online. A canteen will be running from 7:00am and spectators are welcome to come view all the action at no charge, providing they observe COVID Safe rules. You can get more information on AMA Events.
