Wondai Winter Race Day
The South Burnett Race Club will be holding their annual Wondai Winter Race Day meeting at the Wondai race track at the end of Baynes Street, Wondai from around 11:30am today (the first race leaves the barriers at 1:45pm). The theme of today's meeting is "Winter Wonderland" and guests are encouraged to dress to this theme to be in the running for great prizes in the Fashions Of The Field competition. As usual, the meeting will feature an on-course TAB; live telecasts of Brisbane and interstate races (along with interstate betting fluctuations); a vigorous undercover betting ring; a great BBQ and bar and a Punters Podium. The always popular Lady Luck Cocktail Bar will be in full swing too, along with the track's canteen, and admission to the meeting is just $10. Today's meeting will feature a full card of five races and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the race club on (07) 4168-5530.

There'll be food stalls, raffles, engine blow-ups, market stalls and a swap meet, along with a free jumping castle and face painting for the kiddies. Around lunchtime, there'll also be a cruise fore vintage cars from Maidenwell to Mel's Diner in Alford Street, Kingaroy for a rock 'n' roll lunch. And in the evening there'll be a great pig-on-a-spit dinner at the Maidenwell Hotel, an auction, live entertainment from Arthur Nettelfield and rock 'n' roll dancing until the wee hours. Everyone is welcome! For more information, contact Terry on 0409-496-167 or email him.

The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy
The South Burnett's local football competition will be taking a school vacation break this week and next, but footy fans who are hungry for some top-tier action should head to Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street in Kingaroy, where South Burnett United will be playing Willowburn White in the 16th round of this year's Toowoomba Football League competition. This will be United's first home game in a long time, and since both teams currently sit at the very top of the TFL table it should be a particularly good match. United and the Whites have only played one another twice so far this year. One match produced a 2-all draw, and the second saw United win 1-nil, so the game really could be anybody's. Play will get underway at 5:00pm and a canteen and BBQ will be operating on the grounds. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission fee.
Public Meeting - Durong
Land owners in the Durong area will be holding a public meeting at Durong Hall on the Durong-Mundubbera Road at 7:30pm this evening to discuss the South Burnett Regional Council's 2018-19 Budget and - in particular - increases in their Road Levy contribution after the Council elected to fold the former $200-a-year levy into general rates. The meeting comes in advance of a public meeting at the same place that will be attended by the Mayor and Councillors next Thursday, July 12 and is designed to crystallize concerns that will be put to the public meeting. All Durong and district residents are welcome to attend. More details? Phone Greg on 0437-680-271.
