South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Yarraman Show & Shine
The Yarraman Business Group's annual Show & Shine will be held at the Recreation Grounds in Margaret Street, Yarraman from 9:00am to 2:00pm today. The Show & Shine will be displaying a wide range of cars, bikes, trikes and utes and there'll also be fantastic food vans, market stalls, live music and a licensed bar in operation, as well as a visit from the Shannon's Insurance super rig. Gates for Show & Shine exhibitors will open at 7:00am for final judging and prize-giving at 1:30pm and entry fees are just $10 per exhibitor or a gold coin for visitors. Everyone is welcome!
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Rugby League Preliminary Finals - Murgon
The Preliminary Finals of the local league competition will be played at the Murgon Showgrounds in Macalister Street, Murgon today. Matches will kick off at 8:00am with U8s, and this will be followed by three U10s games - Murgon 1 vs Kingaroy 2 at 8:40am; Kingaroy 1 vs Murgon 2 at 9:20am; and Nanango vs Cherbourg at 10:00am. After this, there'll be three U12s games between Murgon 1 and Kingaroy 2 (10:40am), Cherbourg/Wondai vs Murgon (at 11:30am) and Kingaroy 2 vs Nanango (12:20pm). Then at 1:30pm, the action will move up a notch with the U14s Preliminary Final between Kingaroy and Nanango, followed by the A-Grade Preliminary Final between Nanango and Cherbourg at 3:00pm to decide who'll face Murgon in next week's Grand Final. The Showgrounds canteen will be open all day with a licensed bar opening during the afternoon, and spectators are very welcome!
Spring Ranch Show - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be hosting their Spring Ranch Show at their grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango all day today. The event will be overseen by Judge Steve Thake and admission is free for spectators. A canteen will also be operating on site and camping spots are available for participants (if you're quick). Everyone is welcome!
SBEG Dressage Day - Nanango
A South Burnett Equestrian Group Dressage Day will be held at 12 Greenwood Creek Road in Nanango from 8:30am until later today. There are no dress or gear rules, and tests will be offered in all grades ultra easy to FEI. Spectators are very welcome too.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.

Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Hy Energy - Wondai
South Burnett pub rock band Hy Energy will be performing at the Cecil Hotel in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until late tonight. Admission is free and the hotel's kitchen will be running if you want dinner or a snack. More details? Phone the Cecil on (07) 4168-5460.
Dance - Inverlaw Hall
The popular Inverlaw Dance will be held at Inverlaw Hall on the Burrandowan Road (roughly 20km from Kingaroy) from 8:00pm until late tonight. This month, music will be supplied by Diamonds and there'll be the usual great supper and novelties, along with a Lucky Door. Mudgarden - Kingaroy

Widgee Campdraft
The annual Widsgee Campdraft will be held at the Widgee pony club grounds from early this morning until late this afternoon. This year's campdraft features Maiden, Novice, Junior and Juvenile drafts, and for non-campdrafters there'll also be a Farmers Challenge running at 10:00am and a Dog Jump Challenge running at noon, both offering great prizes and which promise to be lots of fun. Entry to all events for spectators is free (only participants have to pay entry fees), a bar and canteen will be running on site and everyone is welcome!
Cent Auction - Nanango
The Nanango RSL Auxiliary will be holding a Cent Auction at Taras Hall (immediately next to the RSL) this morning as a fundraiser. Doors will open at 10:00am and the auction will begin at 12:00 noon. There are hundreds of great prizes up for grabs and the $5 entry fee for adults includes a free sheet of tickets, a lucky door ticket and tea or coffee (children are just $2, and they'll receive a children's lucky door ticket). Everyone is welcome!
Weekend Bites - Kingaroy
Showies struggling to survive the cancellation of this year's Ekka will be putting on a mini Ekka at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from noon to 8:00pm today featuring show foods, amusement rides and showbags. Entry is just $2 and everyone is welcome! Note: The mini Ekka will also run tomorrow
BBQ Buffet & Karaoke - Yarraman
The Royal Hotel on the D'Aguilar Highway at Yarraman will be holding a BBQ Buffet Night from 5:00pm to 7:00pm this evening, followed by karaoke from 7:30pm until late. For just $20 per head (or $12 for children 12 and under) guests can enjoy a great range of pork, rolled beef or chicken on the spit plus other BBQ treats followed by a night of music - and locals can get to or from the hotel via its courtesy bus into the bargain. Junior Motorcycle Club Race Day
The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding a Club Day on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy this morning, with gates opening at 8:00am and racing from 9:00am until around noon. Bush Banquet - Wattle Grove
SOLD OUT: The Nanango & District Kindergarten will be holding a Bush Banquet at The Washpool in Half Mile Creek Road at Wattle Grove from 5:00pm to around 11:00pm tonight as a fundraiser. Guests can get to enjoy an elegant dining experience with crisp white linen in a rustic bush shed decorated with lanterns and fairy lights and warmed by a sunken brick fire pit and gum leaves. They can also enjoy an authentic three course meal (including a camp oven dinner cooked on hot, fresh coals), along with a fully stocked bar. There'll also be live music, a silent auction and a live auction. Tickets can be booked online but since there's no EFTPOS on site, you'll need to bring cash as well if you plan to use the bar. Everyone 18 years and above is welcome! Note: Tickets to this event were sold out on Tuesday, August 31.
Blackbutt Music Festival
CANCELLED: Today is the final day of the inaugural four-day Blackbutt Music Festival, featuring country and bluegrass musicians organised by the Bloomin' Beautiful Blackbutt committee. The winners of the walk-up competitions (which have been running at Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road from Wednesday to Saturday) as well as the main concert acts will be on stage at Blackbutt Memorial Hall from 6:00pm to 11:00pm tonight. Booked musicians include Carol Chaney, Alan & Trace, Willie, Don Allen, John Abbott and Tommy Miller. Online bookings are essential and tickets can be obtained by clicking here. Note: This event was cancelled in August 2021 due to pandemic concerns.
