Queensland State Election
The Queensland State Election will be held today to decide which party will run the state for the coming 4 years. With COVID still an issue, this election has been a little different to previous years, with many people choosing to use pre-polling or postal voting options to avoid the crowds. Depending on where you live in the region you'll be voting for your preferred representative in Nanango, Callide or Gympie state electorates. Voting is compulsory, though, and today polling booths will open at 8:00am and close at 6:00pm. This election is expected to be close and the first results are expected later tonight. However, a declared final count may take several days and some pundits believe a hung parliament may be one possible outcome.

Halloween At The Shed - Nanango
Tonight is Halloween, and the 7th annual Halloween Night will be held at The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) from sunset onwards (ie about 6:30pm to 7:00pm). Children wearing the scariest outfits will be in the running to win trophies for their efforts, and The Shed will be providing a suitably spooky backdrop with its usual over-the-top Halloween display. Due to COVID restrictions there won't be a free sausage sizzle, costume parade or scary dance competition this year, but all children will receive an ice block and a bag of sweets for attending. This is a free family event and children should be accompanied by a responsible adult. It's being sponsored by Heritage Community Bank, Nanango Real Estate and NaDTA. More details? Phone Jane on 0400-631-677.
