South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
102nd Annual Wondai Show
The first day of the two-day 102nd Wondai Show will run at the Wondai Showgrounds in Baynes Street today, and the gates will open at the open at 8:00am for a Championship Dog Show attracting more than 200 entrants this year. Judges will begin assessing pavilion entries at 9:00am (not open to the public) and at 5:00pm there'll be competitions for Stud Beef Young Judges, Paraders and Schools in the main ring, along with a BBQ operating in the cattle area. Admission to today's Show is $10 for adults or $6 for pensioners and high school students, and everyone is welcome!
Kingaroy RSL Bingo
Bingo games will be running at Kingaroy RSL from 10:00am this morning (eyes down at 10:30am). There'll be four jackpots on offer, along with book games and raffles, and proceeds will go to help local good causes. Everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Kingaroy State High School Flair Concert
Kingaroy State High School's annual Flair Concert to raise funds for the school's chaplaincy program will be held at the Kingaroy Performing Arts Centre at the end of Markwell Street, Kingaroy tonight. The concert showcases the talents of KSHS students and staff and it's always a great night out. Doors will open at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start, and tickets to the two-hour show are just $6 for an individual or $20 for a family of four (2 adults and 2 children). There'll also be a cent auction and a 100 board, and the KPAC canteen will be open for food and other refreshments. Tickets can be booked online (sign-up required) or purchased at the door tonight. Friday Afternoon Scroungers - Nanango
The Nanango Bowls Club in Henry Street will be holding their regular Friday Afternoon Scroungers matches at 4:00pm today. A $5 match fee applies and new players are very welcome. More details from the club: (07) 4163-3363
Black Coffee - Nanango
SOLD OUT: The Nanango Theatre Company will be presenting the debut performance of their latest production "Black Coffee" at the Nanango Playhouse in Elk Street, Nanango at 7:30pm tonight (doors open at 7:00pm). Black Coffee is a three-act murder mystery by Agatha Christie with her famous creation Hercule Poirot as the central character, and audiences can expect a rollicking good show. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for concessions, and they can be bought at the Nanango Visitor Information Centre in Henry Street or by phoning (07) 4189-9446. If not already sold out, some may also be available at the door tonight. Note: A matinee performance will be held at 3:00pm tomorrow, and two final evening performances will be held next weekend, September 6-7.
Friday Croquet - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Croquet Club will be playing croquet games at the rear of the Kingaroy Cricket Club in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (just next to Beangrowers) from 9:00am to around 11:30am this morning. Chocolate Cuisine Night - Nanango
Here's something different! Nanango RSL will be holding a Chocolate Cuisine Night from 5:30pm until around 10:00pm tonight. The club's bistro will be offering a choice of chocolate-accented Dark Stout Beef Stew served with mash or Lamb Shank with a chocolate port and rosemary jus, served on a bed of mash for mains; and a dessert plate of five chocolate-laden masterpieces to follow this. Tickets are $15.95 for a main course, and a full dessert tasting plate is $25. Bookings are highly advisable and you can make one by phoning the RSL on (07) 4163-1375.
Friday Social Golf - Proston

Friday Night At The Shed - Nanango
The Shed in Little Drayton Street, Nanango (just next to the Scott Car Park) will be open from 7:00pm until late tonight for local musicians and anyone else who enjoys music to come along, bring their instruments and jam in a relaxed and informal setting (or just sit on the Shed's lounges, listen in and enjoy the wide variety of talent on offer). South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:30pm today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
