Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
Nanango Parkrun
The Nanango parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run along the Ros Gregor Trail at Tipperary Flat next to the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Pig On A Spit Night - Maidenwell
Maidenwell's historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding its monthly Pig On A Spit evening from 6:00pm until late tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). There'll be live entertainment from Arthur Nettelfield and lots of cold beer, along with more pork than you can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy! The hotel also has roast beef and spit roasted chicken on the menu for those who prefer not to put pork on their fork, plus a vegetarian option (ie vegies only), along with Little Butcher meat tray raffles to raise funds for Tanduringie State School. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Jeff Hancox - Kingaroy
The South Burnett's very own Elvis Jeff Hancox will be performing at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm to 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the club on (07) 4162-1755.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am. Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's cricketers will be playing in Murgon, Nanango and Kingaroy today. In A Grade, Murgon Crusaders will take on the Gympie Colts in the second (and final) day of Round 2 of the Gympie A Grade two-day competition at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street from 9:00am. In B Grade, Nanango Scorpions will play Kingaroy Services at the Burnett Street Sportsgrounds in Nanango; Murgon Diggers will play Kumbia Rattlers at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street; and Wooroolin Warriors will play Wondai Wolves at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (all matches start at 12:30pm - Cherbourg has the bye). Finally - in Juniors - the junior competition will resume today with Nanango playing Kingaroy Burnett Water in both the Stage 2 and Stage 3 competitions at the Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street, Nanango (both matches start at 8:00am). Spectators are very welcome at all games but will need to observe proper social distancing.
