Antfest 2021 Challenges - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) will be opening their latest monthly exhibition at 5:30pm tonight. This month's exhibition is "Antfest 2021 Challenges" - the Jumping Ant Arts Group's annual exhibition - and it will feature works by a dozen highly talented Jumping Ant Arts members, all executed in a wide variety of media and styles. Some of the featured artists will also be on hand to discuss their works, and there'll be light refreshments available as well. After tonight's opening, the exhibition will remain on display from 10:00am to 4:00pm Mondays to Fridays, and 9:00am to 1:00pm on Saturdays, until October 6. Everyone is welcome and admission is free.
Learn Plastic Dry-Point Etching - Kingaroy
South Burnett artist Fran van Vegchel will be teaching the art of plastic dry-point etching at the Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) between 10:00am and 3:00pm today. Fran will demonstrate and then students will be invited to "have a go". The cost of the class is $10 (all materials are supplied) and a portable etching press will be available as well. Line Dancing - Yarraman
Weekly line dancing classes will be held the Community Hall in Browne Street, Yarraman from 9:00am to noon this morning. Class fees are $5 and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone 0422-889-530.
Art Exhibition Opening - Wondai
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery on the roundabout at Wondai will be opening their latest monthly exhibition with a wine and cheese tasting at 6:00pm tonight. This month the gallery will be running three exhibitions: “Reflections on Nature’s Natural Beauty” by photographer Carl Hogg in the front gallery; “Eclectic Me” by Summer Brook-Jones in the main gallery; and a textile art ehibition by The Alpaca Collective (Julia and Kirsten Jeffery and Myrie Cobby) in the rear gallery, as well as works by children from Moffatdale State School in Kidz Korner. As usual, tonight's opening will also feature hot and cold finger foods and punch, along with wine tastings from Cranes Winery, live music and lots of fun socialising. Weekend Bites - Kingaroy
Showies struggling to survive the cancellation of this year's Ekka will be putting on a mini Ekka at the Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy from 4:00pm to 10:00pm this afternoon featuring show foods, amusement rides and showbags. Entry is just $2 and everyone is welcome! Note: The mini Ekka will also run tomorrow and Sunday.
Open Mic Night At The Palace - Nanango
The Palace Hotel in Fitzroy Street, Nanango will be hosting an Open Mic Night with the Mr Q Acoustic Duo from 7:30pm until late tonight. All equipment is supplied - just bring your voice and/or instrument - and there's no admission. The Palace's kitchen will also be open if you want dinner beforehand or a snack during. More details? Kingaroy RSL Bingo

The Proston Golf Club on Brigooda Road, Proston will be holding a Friday afternoon social golf game today. Names need to be in by 2:00pm for a 2:30pm tee-off, and everyone is welcome. Blackbutt Music Festival
CANCELLED: The third day of the inaugural four-day Blackbutt Music Festival featuring country and bluegrass musicians will be held at Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt today. The festival is being organised by the Bloomin' Beautiful Blackbutt committee, and walk-up competitions will be running from Wednesday to Saturday followed by a main concert on Saturday night at the nearby Blackbutt Memorial Hall. Tickets can be booked online. Note: This event was cancelled in August 2021 due to pandemic concerns.
South Burnett Pantry - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Pantry will be open from 8:30am to 12:00 noon today at 22 Stolzenberg Road in Kingaroy. The Pantry is a not-for-profit registered charity run by a Board of Management and staffed by volunteers, and it helps low income families, couples and singles stretch their shopping dollar further. The Pantry offers $40 pantry hampers that contain most of the food and personal cleaning items that most people need to get through part of the week (though you'll need to shop elsewhere for extras or special items).
