South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Winter Race Day
POSTPONED: The South Burnett Race Club will be holding their annual Wondai Winter Race Day meeting at the Wondai race track in Cadell Street, Wondai from around 12:00 noon today (the first race leaves the barriers around 1:30pm). The theme of today's meeting is "Winter Wonderland" and guests are encouraged to dress to this theme to be in the running for great prizes in the hotly-contested Classic Black and White competition. As usual, the meeting will feature an on-course TAB; live telecasts of Brisbane and interstate races (along with interstate betting fluctuations); a vigorous undercover betting ring; a great BBQ and bar and a Punters Podium. The always popular Lady Luck Cocktail Bar will be in full swing too, along with the track's canteen, and admission is just $10. Today's meeting will feature a full card of five races and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the race club on 0418-916-646. Kilkivan Neighbourhood Watch

Nanango Country Markets
The Nanango Show Society will be holding their regular monthly Country Markets at the Nanango Showgrounds in Cairns Street from 6:00am to around 12:00 noon today. As usual, the markets will feature a wide variety of craft stalls, new and used goods, plants, poultry and pets, but they'll be operating in a COVID Safe way. The Nanango Markets are the largest rural market in south east Queensland and attract up to 420 stallholders. But new stallholders are always very welcome too! More info? Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Byte Nite - Murgon
The South Burnett PCYC in Macalister Street, Murgon will be resuming their fortnightly Byte Nites from 6:00pm to around 8:30pm this evening for Murgon and Cherbourg youngsters. Children can play a range of fun and entertaining games and pursue other amusements for free during the course of the night, as well as get a free meal and a ride home afterwards if they need one, all under the supervision of caring local volunteers. Byte Nite is an initiative of the PCYC and Murgon Business and Development Association to tackle youth crime in the district by giving youngsters something to do on a Saturday night, and anyone who'd like to volunteer to help this community-driven initiative in any way should contact Sgt Rene Bond at the PCYC on (07) 4168-1889 for more information.
Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed runs at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.

Runners follow a course along the trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event.
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 8:00am until around 1:00pm today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Saturday Rugby League - Cherbourg
This weekend's local league competition will be played at Jack O'Chin Oval in Broadway Street, Cherbourg. Because of school holidays, there's no junior league this week. But in A-Grade, the Murgon Mustangs will play Kingaroy's Red Ants at 1:15pm, and they'll be followed by a top-drawer clash between Cherbourg's Hornets and the Wondai Wolves at 3:00pm (Nanango's Stags have the bye this week). A canteen will be operating on site and spectators are very welcome.
Reserve Forces Day Meet & Greet - Wondai
A Meet & Greet for people taking part in tomorrow's Reserve Forces Day commemorations in Wondai will be held at the Wondai Diggers Club in Mackenzie Street from 5:30pm until around 11:00pm this evening. Other planned activities - including a bowls tournament and a visit to the Wondai Races - have had to be reluctantly cancelled this year due to wet weather, but tomorrow's commemorations and parade will go ahead as usual, rain or shine (see entry Sunday 04 July for all details)
Come & Try Junior Motorcycle Speedway - Kingaroy
CANCELLED: The Kingaroy Junior Motorcycle Speedway Club will be holding a Practice Day on the main oval of Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street, Kingaroy this morning, with gates opening at 8:00am and racing from 9:00am until around noon. The club is for young motorcycle riders aged 4 to 16 and spectators are very welcome. More details? Phone Simon on 0439-716-742.
