South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today, with stallholders selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables through to arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks, foods and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Art Gallery's "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed) and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926.
Goomeri Lions Christmas Carnival
NEW LOCATION: The annual Goomeri Lions Christmas Carnival will be held at the Goomeri Showgrounds Lions Pavilion in Laird Street, Goomeri from 5:30pm to around 8:30pm this evening. As usual, the Carnival will feature lots of food stalls, fun entertainment for children and a visit from Santa Claus, and the night will be capped off with a fireworks display thanks to Nutrien Ag Solutions. Everyone is welcome and there's no admission. Note: The Christmas Carnival was relocated from Goomeri's Sportsgrounds to the Goomeri Showgrounds on November 26 due to wet weather.
Centenary Of Di Di Station - Boondooma
Di Di Station on the Mundubbera-Durong Ropad at Boondooma will be celebrating its centenary today, kicking off with a Mass at 10:00am and following through with a burger and sausage sizzle lunch at noon, a bull walk at 2:00pm; and a cake cutting and book launch at 4:00pm. There'll also be horse and buggy rides running throughout the day, along with a smoked brisket demonstration by Stuart Kirk and Mort Duff. Mondee Coffee To Go, cold drinks and a bar will be available if you get thirsty and while there's no admission, an RSVP by November 20 via email is essential to help plan the catering.
Karaoke Night - Yarraman
The Royal Hotel on the D'Aguilar Highway at Yarraman will be holding a Karaoke Night from 7:30pm until late this evening. A courtesy bus will be available for locals who'd prefer not to drive and the hotel's kitchen will be operating if you want to chow down beforehand. Everyone is welcome! More details? Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Mr Q - Kingaroy
Two members of the South Burnett's favourite rock band Mr Q - Tony Cisneros and his brother Gavin - will be performing as an acoustic duo at the Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy from 7:00pm until around 11:00pm tonight. Admission is free. More details from the RSL on (07) 4162-1755.
Canapes & Chorale - Murgon
Graham House Community Centre at 21 Taylor Street East in Murgon will be launching their annual Christmas Appeal at 5:30pm tonight with "Canapes And Chorale" in Graham House's gardens. The event will feature great food and a twilight concert by the South Burnett Chorale, and tax-deductible tickets are just $30 per head. They can be booked by phoning Graham House on (07) 4169-8400.
Nanango Mini Market
The Nanango Mini Market, which runs on the 4th Saturday of each month (except January) outside the Churchyard Opp Shop at the corner of Drayton and Burnett Streets in Nanango, will be running from 7:00am to around noon this morning. Apart from offering great bargains at great prices - ranging from plants to craft work, DVDs, bric-a-brac, glassware, books, jewellery, photographic work and mosaic art - the markets also have a $2 sausage sizzle, $1.20 soft drinks ($2 for a coke) and gold coin donation tea and coffee if you get peckish. The Proston parkrun group will be holding its weekly 5km timed walk/run at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the former railway line and the parkrun group is free to join. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Public Consultation - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding an informal public consultation on proposed future uses for a park at 32 Walter Road in Kingaroy at the park from 9:00am to 11:00am this morning. All interested residents are encouraged to attend.
Working Dog & Livestock Handling School - Booubyjan
The first day of a weekend-long Working Dog & Livestock Handling School will be held at Booubyjan north of Goomeri today. Participants will learn how to handle livestock using dogs correctly and safely, and how to use proven stock and dog handling techniques to generate less stress on livestock and promote greater weight gains. Family Advent Night - Kingaroy
The Salvation Army will be holding a Family Advent Night to welcome in the 2021 Christmas season at the Salvation Army Centre at 107-109 Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy from 5:30pm onwards this evening. The Salvos promise there'll be lots of fun and games and everyone is welcome.
Car Boot Sale - Booie
A big Car Boot Sale will be held at Booie Hall at 1226 Booie Road, Booie from 8:00am to around 12:00 noon this morning. Apart from a big spread of stalls, food and drink will be available from the Hall's kitchen and there'll be a gold coin donation display of items beginning with the letter "H" stretching across 90 years that will remain on display until 4:00pm this afternoon as part of the Hall's 90th birthday celebrations. Monster Garage Sale - Murgon
A Monster Garage Sale will be held all this weekend at Clifton Motors in Macalister Street, Murgon. The sale will be offering cutlery, mechanical and garden tools, children's toys and books, 44 gallon drums, sewing items, glassware, a large range of Tupperware, pots and pans, hats, anvils, embossed oil bottles and much, much more. Food and drink will also be available onsite.
Car Boot Sale - Blackbutt
POSTPONED: The Blackbutt-Benarkin Lions Club will be holding a massive Car Boot Sale at the Lions Club Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 6:00am to around noon this morning. The historic Maidenwell Hotel will be holding its monthly Pig On A Spit evening from 6:00pm until late tonight (dinner is served from 6:00pm to 8:00pm). There'll be live entertainment and lots of cold beer, along with more pork than you can poke a fork at, all served up with with roast potatoes, pumpkin, corn, peas, carrots, applesauce and gravy! Saturday Cricket - Nanango, Kingaroy & Murgon
CANCELLED: There's another big Saturday of cricket today with Gympie A-Grade, South Burnett Seniors and South Burnett Juniors matches all in action. In the Preliminary Final of the Gympie A-Grade Competition, Wooroolin Warriors will play the Gympie Colts at Kozminsky Oval in Gympie at noon). And in the eighth round of the South Burnett Seniors competition, Murgon will play Wooroolin Vikings at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street; Nanango will play Cherbourg at the Alan Downie Sports Fields in Burnett Street, Nanango; while Wooroolin Colts battle it out with Kingaroy Services at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy (all at 12:30pm) while Wondai has the bye. Finally, in Juniors, Kingaroy Pineview Brangus will play Nanango at Kingaroy State School, and Kingaroy Westlink will play Kingaroy Wamuran Timbers at the River Road fields in Kingaroy in the Stage 2 competition; and in Stage 3, Kingaroy Warriors will play Nanango at Taabinga State School (all junior matches start at 8:00am). Spectators are very welcome at all games. Note: Due to rain all today's matches were washed out.
