Googa Googa Creek Bush Picnic
Past students of Googa Googa Creek State School and anyone with an interest in the history of the Blackbutt-Benarkin area is invited to attend a Bush Picnic at the Googa Creek Cricket Grounds from 9:390am (for a 10:00am start) today. Providing you BYO chair or rug, $10 will buy you lunch, sweets, a cold drink, tea or coffee plus an afternoon of yarns, musical entertainment, tours and displays, plus lots of family-friendly games. Googa Googa Creek State School operated from 1920 to 1950 and is now a vanished part of the South Burnett's early history. To reach it, you should turn onto the Crows Nest Road at the Radnor Hotel in Coulson Street, Blackbutt and follow the directional signs for about 9km. To assist catering, though, and RSVP is needed by June 18. You can make one by phoning Jenny at the Blackbutt & District Tourism and Heritage Association on 0439-630-413. State Of Origin - Round 2
The second 2021 State Of Origin match between the Maroons and Blues will be played at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane from around 8:00pm tonight. After the Maroons were thrashed by the Blues at Townsville in the first round earlier this month, Queensland will need to significantly lift its game to keep its hopes of winning this year's competition alive, while a second loss will hand the crown to the Blues on a platter. As a result, viewers can confidently expect some very hard-fought, action packed footy from both teams. Most clubs and hotels in the region will be broadcasting the match on big screen TVs (and a few will be running special State Of Origin nights), or you can stay at home out of the chilly winter weather and watch all the action in comfort on free to air TV.
Hivesville Markets
The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 6:00am to about noon today.
