South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Hivesville Country Markets
The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 7:00am to around 1:00pm today. These family friendly monthly markets are held on the 4th Sunday of every month and feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. There'll also be mini auctions running throughout the morning and there's plenty of free parking in the grounds. Sunday Bingo - Wondai
Bingo games will be held at the Wondai RSL in Mackenzie Street, Wondai this afternoon, with eyes down from 1:30pm. There will be 3 jackpots and 15 games on offer, and the kitchen will be open for light meals. Proceeds will go to help Wondai RSL veterans. More details? Phone (07) 4168-5297.
Pink Stumps Cricket Morning - Hivesville
A special Pink Stumps Cricket Morning will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 9:00am to around 12:00 noon this morning in conjunction with the Hivesville Markets (see entry further above) to help raise funds for the McGrath Foundation, which places McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia and helps increase breast cancer awareness in young Australian women. The morning will be using a tennis ball (rather than a cricket ball) and there'll be two teams - one captained by Cr Kathy Duff, and the other by Garin Muirhead from the Coverty Creek Community Development and Social Club. The morning aims to raise $250 for the Foundation and there'll be a coin toss at 8:50am to determine which side starts off batting and bowling, so get there early. Family Fun Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Swimming Pool at the corner of William and Alford Streets, Kingaroy will be holding a Family Fun Day from 10:00am to 5:00pm today, followed by an outdoor movie night (see entry below). Apart from general swimming (normal entry fees apply), the pool will also be bringing in a giant inflatable red rocket at 11:00am - a great hit with children of all ages that they can try to ride for an extra $10. Outdoor Movie Night - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Swimming Pool at the corner of William and Alford Streets, Kingaroy will be holding an Outdoor Movie Night at 6:30pm this evening, screening the family-friendly Australian movie Paper Planes. Admission is $12 and everyone is welcome. More details? Phone the pool on (07) 4162-1863.
South Burnett Speedway - Kingaroy
The third day of the three-day Kings Royal, the biggest annual event on the South Burnett Speedway calendar, will be held at Kingaroy Showgrounds tonight. Racing will get underway at 5:00pm and this year more than 78 drivers - including 12 former national champions - have nominated. Tonight's program will feature the finals of the IBRP Kings Royal Modified Sedans, along with a womens-only Queens Royal event for Production Sedans & Street Stocks combined, followed by fireworks. Admission is $25 for adults, $15 for students (with ID) and aged or disability pensioners and $65 for a family of two adults and up to three students (children 12 and under are free). Three day passes are also available at discounted rates, and there'll be canteen facilities operating onsite and camping available, too. The full event program can be downloaded here (1.3Mb PDF)
South Burnett Orchid Society
The South Burnett Orchid Society will be holding their regular monthly meeting at CTC's rooms at the South Burnett Youth Park in Somerset Street, Kingaroy from 2:00pm to around 3:30pm this afternoon. The Society exists for orchid enthusiasts of all skill levels and meets on the last Sunday of every month except December. New members and visitors are always very welcome. More details? Timbertown Woodworkers - Blackbutt
The Timbertown Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Barambah Bowhunters - Nanango
The Barambah Bowhunters and Field Archers Association will be hosting the final day of their two-day D Branch Interclub at their range off the D'Aguilar Highway south of Nanango, kicking off at 8:00am and concluding at around 3:00pm this afternoon. Spectators who enjoy watching archery competitions are welcome to attend.
Start The Year Right Hack Day - Nanango
The South Burnett Equestrian Group will be running a Start The Year Right Hack Day with Led and Harness classes at the Nanango Showghrounds in Cairns Street, Nanango from 9:00am to around 3:00pm today. There'll bed 5 Led classes, 12 Rider classes and 6 Harness classes on offer, and entry is just $2 per class (spectators are free).
