Pancake Day - Kingaroy And Yarraman

Today is Shrove Tuesday (probably now better known as International Pancake Day) and it heralds the beginning of fasting in Lent. According to historians Pancake Day had is origins in medieval times when feasts of pancakes were held to use up supplies of fat, butter and eggs because these foods were forbidden during Lent. In Kingaroy, the Anglican Ladies Guild will be holding their traditional Pancake Day celebration from 10:00am onwards this morning at the church hall in Alford Street. Admission is $2 and there'll be a morning tea, a lucky door prize, a raffle, pancake tossing, entertainment and a bring and buy stall. Everyone is welcome! Meanwhile, Yarraman will also be holding Pancake Day celebrations at Heritage House in Millar Street between 10:00am and 1:00pm today. First Time Home Buyer Seminar

Troy Schultz from @Realty will be holding a seminar for first home buyers at 99 Kingaroy Street, Kingaroy from 6:30pm to around 8:30pm tonight. Troy will explain the home buying process; whether it's better to buy a new or old home; how to qualify for the First Home Owner's grant; financing options; and how to prepare for home ownership. He'll also provide a local market update; explain the closing process; and introduce finance specialist Donna Richards from Westpac, who'll explain the services that are available locally for first home buyers. Visit South Burnett Official Launch - Nanango

The new Visit South Burnett local tourism organisation will be officially launched at Taras Hall next to Nanango RSL in Henry Street, Nanango at 6:00pm this evening (for a 6:30pm start). SBRC CEO Mark Pitt and Peter Homan, the CEO of Southern Queensland Country Tourism will be special guests. Afterwards, guests who've RSVP'd will sit down to a launch dinner. Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution.
