Wondai Army Cadets Open Day
The 135 Army Cadet Unit will be holding an Open Day at their depot in Bramston Street, Wondai between 10:00am and 1:00pm today. The day is for young people aged between 13 and 17 who are interested in joining the Army Cadets and/or who would like to find out more about all the fun things the Cadets do, and their parents are very welcome to come along as well. Bunya Mountains Markets
The monthly Bunya Mountains Markets will be running at Dandabah in the Bunya Mountains today. The markets feature up to 30 stands selling quality, locally-produced fresh produce, arts and crafts and they'll be operating from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Local cafes like Poppies On The Hill and The Bunya Mountains Cafe will be offering special Market Day menus and morning teas, lunches and afternoon teas, and walking trail maps will be available from both cafes, the Bunya Mountains General Store and market stalls if you'd like to take a walk through the adjoining National Park. Ringsfield Film Society - Nanango
After a two-month break for the festive season, the Ringsfield Film Society will be resuming their monthly screening of a classic movie from the National Film and Sound Archives at the old church in the grounds of Ringsfield House at 41-45 Alfred Street, Nanango this afternoon, kicking off with a great afternoon tea from Ringsfield House at 3:00pm and followed by the movie at 3:20pm. The Film Society screens a different film on the fourth Sunday of each month (except December and January) and all films are subtitled for the benefit of those with hearing difficulties. Sunday Poker - Kingaroy
Sunday afternoon poker games will be played at Kingaroy RSL in Markwell Street, Kingaroy today. Registrations start at 2:00pm and play begins at 2:30pm. All games are free to play and there are prizes for first, second and third. More details? Phone the RSL on (07) 4162-1755
Hivesville Country Markets
The Hivesville Country Markets will be held at the Hivesville Sports Grounds from 7:00am to around 1:00pm today. These family friendly monthly markets are held on the 4th Sunday of every month and feature a variety of stalls including fresh local farm produce, plants, crafts and lots of food. There'll also be mini auctions running throughout the morning and there's plenty of free parking in the grounds. Barrel Racing - Kilkivan
The final round of the NBHA's District 2 Summer Series will be run at the Kilkivan Equestrian Centre at 88 Mudlo Road in Kilkivan (ie the Kilkivan Showgrounds) from 8:00am today, kicking off with exhibitions and registrations/memberships for riders before the competition gets underway at 10:00am sharp. The day's program will include Tiny Tot, Open, Junior and Senior barrel races and since today's outing is the last chance for NBHA members to earn summer points, competition is expected to be keen. Spectators are welcome to come along and watch the action too, and there's no charge to do so. Note: Today's event was originally planned for February 9, but had to be postponed a fortnight due to wet weather.
Kilkivan Railway Markets
The weekly Kilkivan Railway Markets will be held in Lester Millar Park in Kilkivan from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The Timbertowns Woodworkers group will be holding their regular Sunday morning meeting at the Blackbutt Showgrounds in Bowman Road, Blackbutt from 8:30am until around 12:00 noon today. Kumbia Museum
The Kumbia and District Historical Society's museum, located in the Federation Heritage Centre behind Kumbia Hall in Bell Street, will be open from 1:30pm to 3:30pm this afternoon.
