South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
South Burnett Saints Heritage Day
The South Burnett Saints will be hosting their annual Heritage Day at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy today. The event is open to past and present South Burnett Australian Rules players (ie Bulldogs, Jets and Saints), committee members, volunteers and supporters, who are all invited to join in a day of “sharing on-the-field and off-the-field memories”. The event will be held in conjunction with two home games: the Saints women’s team will play the South Toowoomba Bombers at 12:30pm; and they'll be followed by the men's team, who'll play the Warwick Redbacks at 2:30pm. A canteen and bar will also be running, admission is free, COVIDSafe rules apply and everyone is welcome!
QCWA Scone Morning - Kingaroy
Kingaroy QCWA will be celebrating 98 years of the QCWA with a scone morning at the Kingaroy Branch Rooms (in Kingaroy Street, near the Kingaroy RSL CLub) from 9:30am this morning.Six scones for $8.00 (with jam and cream, add $1.00). Sod Turning Ceremony - Murgon
Murgon RSL will be holding a public sod turning ceremony to mark the start of their new welfare drop-in centre project at 44 Stephens Street, Murgon (the block of land next to the old Council chambers) at 9:00am this morning. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways in Yarraman from 8:00am until around 1:00pm today (ie opposite Bendigo Bank). The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held on the second Saturday of every month. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday morning get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa at 8:00am. Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today. Today - because of the Wondai Country Festival (see above) there'll be a bumper rollup of at least 105 stallholders selling everything from fresh fruit and vegetables through to arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks, foods and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Art Gallery's "Studio" building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed) and you can obtain more details by phoning the Wondai Regional Art Gallery on (07) 4168-5926.
Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
