Public Consultation Meetings - Proston and Murgon

The South Burnett Regional Council will be holding two public consultation meetings in Proston and Murgon today to discuss its draft Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Plan, which recommends "rationalising" a number of the region's parks. The Proston meeting will be held at the Proston Public Library in Blake Street from 9:00am to 11:00am; and the Murgon meeting will be held at QEII Park in Lamb Street smack bang in the middle of the CBD from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. The full plan can be downloaded from Council's website (12Mb PDF) but if you don't have time to wade through all 113 pages, its recommendations for Proston and Hivesville are on pages 87-88; and Murgon parks slated for action are on page 71. The Council has said it will not consider any inputs that aren't made in writing, but if you object to any particular recommendation you can obtain the official two page Feedback form from Council's website. Biggest Morning Tea - Blackbutt

A Biggest Morning Tea will be held at the Blackbutt Memorial Hall in Bowman Road, Blackbutt at 10:00am this morning to help raise funds for the Queensland Cancer Council (doors open at 9:30am). The morning tea is being jointly organised by the Blackbutt Singers and Blackbutt's churches, and in addition to a great morning tea - which will be a high tea - there'll be live entertainment from the Blackbutt Singers, multi-draw raffles, money boards and cake auctions. Kumbia QCWA Meeting

The QCWA Kumbia Branch in Bell Street will be opening its doors at 9.00am this morning for a cuppa, followed by its monthly branch meeting at 9:30am. After this formality has been attended to, though, members focus on friendship and fun through sharing their skills in traditional and contemporary art and handcraft activities for the remainder of the morning and into the afternoon. Alcoholics Anonymous is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other to help solve their common problem and help others to recover from alcoholism. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. There are no dues or fees for A.A. membership. A.A. isn't allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organisation or institution.
