Nanango New Year's Races
The Nanango Race Club will be holding a special New Years Race Meeting at the Lee Park Raceway off the D'aguilar Highway just south of Nanango from 12:30pm to around 5:00pm this afternoon. Today's meeting is a replacement for the club's December 6 Christmas meeting which was rained out at the last minute, and will be first South Burnett race meeting for 2015. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in their best and most colourful holiday outfits to be in the running for some great Moffatdale Ridge Fashions Of The Field prizes. The club's popular Pink Champagne bar will be running all day too and there'll also be a licensed bar and BBQ operating under the new, extended covered area; bookmakers and an on-course tote; plus great live entertainment - what a great way to enjoy a lazy summer's day! This will be a 5-race meeting and buses will be running to the races from Kingaroy's Glendon Street Bus Depot (12:00 noon) and the Nanango RSL at 12:30pm. Gates will open at the track itself at around 10:00am so that go-getters can get a head start on that all-important socialising. Admission is just $10 for adults and $5 for pensioners (under-15s are free) and everyone is welcome! More details? Phone Rosemary on (07) 4163-2346.
Barambah Shed Men Meeting - Wondai
The Barambah Shed Men will be holding their 27th meeting at Wondai Airport off the Wondai-Proston Road about 10km north of Wondai from 4:30pm onwards this afternoon, when a limited number of joy flights will be available. The main meeting and BBQ will start at 6:00pm, and it will feature two great guest speakers to kick off the Barambah Shed Men's 2015 meetings: Allan Mollenhauer. who has built his own plane; and Geoff Dymock, who played cricket for Australia in 21 tests from 1974 to 1982 and once dismissed all 11 opposition batsmen in a single innings. Geoff also played 15 ODI’s and represented Queensland, and these days travels widely to coach and promote the game. The $15 admission fee includes a meal, dessert, soft drinks and tea/coffee (young blokes under 15 can come along for free) but an RSVP by Monday January 12 would be appreciated for catering purposes. You can make one by phoning Glen on (07) 4168-4134 or by emailing him, or Dave on (07) 4168 5912.
