Proston Christmas Carnival
The annual Proston Lions Christmas Carnival will be held in Railway Park, Proston from 5:00pm to 9:00pm this evening. Organisers say this year's Christmas Carnival will be bigger and better than ever with an array of amusement rides and food stalls, a ham wheel, raffles, and a variety of other Christmas goodies on offer. Children can get to enjoy lots of free entertainment and free gifts, courtesy of the Carnival's sponsors (the Proston Lions, Proston Men's Shed, Hivesville Markets, Proston Round Table, the South Burnett Regional Council and community members). There'll also be amusements, live music and carol singing - and Santa will be putting in an appearance too. Meanwhile, in nearby Blake Street, the NB Department Store, the Jacaranda Tearooms and Proston Health & Beauty will all be open for late night shopping from 5:00pm so adults can take a break and get in some Christmas shopping while the children are being amused at the Carnival. Everyone is welcome! More details? Phone Helen on (07) 4168-9297.
Wondai Country Markets
The Wondai Regional Art Gallery's popular monthly Wondai Country Markets will be operating at Coronation Park in Wondai's CBD from 7:00am to 12:00 noon today - a week earlier than usual due to Christmas. Today's markets will feature stallholders selling fresh fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, useful knick-knacks and clothing. There'll also be live entertainment; lots and lots of other stalls selling great gifts and goodies; and special hand-made treasures from local artisans available from the Gallery's Studio building just a short stroll across the park. The BBQs will also be firing up from 6:45am to dish out hearty breakfasts for early bargain hunters. New stallholders are always very welcome (stall fees range from $10 with power and water available, if needed) and you can obtain more details by phoning Joan Spicer on 0456-999-928.
Boondooma Homestead Christmas Gathering
Boondooma Homestead on the Durong-Mundubbera Road will be holding its annual Christmas Gathering for volunteers, locals and friends of Boondooma Homestead at the homestead's big barn from 4:30pm this afternoon. Guests should BYO drinks, meat for a barbecue, and a plate of finger foods, sweets or salads to share. Santa will be arriving for the children at around 6:30pm and there'll likely be some carol-singing too. Everyone is welcome! PS: Parents are asked to bring along a wrapped and tagged gift to the value of about $5 for each of their children. These will be put into Santa's bag for presentation tonight).
