South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Art Gallery Open Day - Kingaroy
The Kingaroy Regional Art Gallery in Haly Street, Kingaroy (opposite the peanut silos) will be holding an Open Day from 9:00am to 1:00pm this morning to showcase their latest exhibition "Antfest 2020 - Showing Off". The Gallery was forced to cancel their official opening of this exhibition at short notice last week due to unexpected building works, but today's get-together will allow you to view the exhibitiuon and meet the artists. Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the shed next to the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Turn The Screws On Crime - Kingaroy
Kingaroy Police and Kumbia Neighbourhood Watch will be holding another one of their popular anti-theft number plate mornings today in Kingaroy, For $3, volunteers will fit anti-theft number plate screws to your vehicle, which will stop your plates being stolen. The morning will be held on the vacant land near Repco in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, from 8:30am to 11:30am.
Yarraman Men's Shed
The Yarraman Men's Shed at the end of Mill Street, Yarraman will be holding one of its regular get-togethers today. The Men's Shed is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and new members are always welcome. More details? Send them an email
Gordonbrook Dam Ride
The South Burnett Mountain Bike Club will be holding a Gordonbrook Dam Ride for mountain bike enthusiasts at Gordonbrook Dam west of Memerambi today. The club have been building a small network of mountain bike trails at the dam over the past year, and today will be the first time they've been unveiled to the public. This get-together is open to any mountain bike enthusiast - member or not - and participants should meet up at Gordonbrook Dam's picnic area at 9:30am with their bikes and riding gear to take part. Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways (ie opposite Bendigo Bank) in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today. The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held weekly. Everyone is welcome and if you'd like to book a stall yourself - it's only $5! - call Joe on (0459) 638-282. Note: All patrons and stallholders are asked to observe proper social distancing to stay safe.
Barambah Pottery Sale - Cherbourg
The Ration Shed Museum in Barambah Avenue, Cherbourg will be open for early Christmas shopping from 9:00am to 1:00pm this morning, offering original Indigenous artworks and beautiful Barambah Pottery items crafted by the Museum's artists and potters. Everyone is welcome and EFTPOS facilities are available as well.
A Day On The Dam - Yallakool
SOLD OUT: Yallakool Tourist Park on the shores of Bjelke-Petersen Dam north of Murgon will be hosting a "Day On The Dam" music concert this evening. The concert is the first outdoor live music event held in the region this year, and will feature popular country performers Troy Cassar-Daley and his daughter Jem as special guest artists, supported by local entertainers Connie Shelton, Andrew Beckett and Les O’Chin. Gates open at 3:00pm and the concert will get underway from 5:00pm. Due to COVID restrictions, guest numbers are limited to 400 and tickets are $45 per adult or $95 for a family of four. They can be obtained from the Yallakool Tourist Park or by phoning (07) 4168-4746.
Saturday Cricket
The South Burnett's cricketers will be playing in Kingaroy, Nanango and Murgon today. In A Grade, Wooroolin Warriors will play Gympie's Colts at Lyle Vidler Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy at 12:30pm; and Murgon's Crusaders will play an away game against Harlequins in Gympie. In B Grade, Murgon Diggers will play Wondai at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street; Nanango's Scorpions will play the Kumbia Rattlers at the Nanango Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street; and Cherbourg will play Kingaroy Services at Murgon State High School, with all matches starting at 12:30pm (Wooroolin's Warriors have the bye this week). Finally - in Juniors - Nanango will play Kingaroy Northern Agriservices at the Nanango Sportsgrounds in Burnett Street at 8:00am in the Stage 2 competition; and in the Stage 3 competition, Murgon will play Nanango at the Murgon Sportsgrounds in Macalister Street, also at 8:00am. Spectators are very welcome at all matches but must observe proper social distancing.
Saturday Night Blow-Out With DJ Richter - Kingaroy
DJ Richter will be spinning the platters at Kingaroy's Commercial Hotel at the corner of Glendon and Haly Streets, Kingaroy from 7:30pm until late tonight - and he'll be running karaoke sessions as well if you feel like giving it a red hot go. Saucy Fork Book Launch - Tingoora and Moffatdale
Roberta Schablon from The Saucy Fork will be launching her new cookery book at Taste Of Tingoora at 73 Tingoora-Charlestown Road, Tingoora at 10:00am this morning; and again at Clovely Estate's cellar door in Steinhardt's Road, Mofdfatdale at 6:00pm this afternoon. Wines will be available for purchase at Clovely, along with copies of the book, but there's no charge to attend either launch. You can also read more about Roberta's book on our website.
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Full Sircle - Wondai
South Burnett band Full Sircle will be performing at the Hotel Cecil in Mackenzie Street, Wondai from 7:30pm until late tonight. Admission is free. More details from the hotel on (07) 4168-5460.
Cooyar Spit Roast
The Cooyar Hotel on the New England Highway at Cooyar will be holding its last Spit Roast Night for 2020 in their Outback Bar behind the pub from 6:30pm (when serving starts) until late tonight. The cost is $25 per head for a great two-course buffet spit roast feed and live music until late, but seating is limited so a booking is a must: (07) 4692-6185. There's also free camping nearby if you'd like to stay over.
South Burnett Western Performance Club Meeting - Nanango
The South Burnett Western Performance Club will be holding a general meeting at the club's grounds in Racecourse Road, Nanango from 10:00am this morning to plot out potential events for 2021. Potential new members are very welcome to come along and meet the club (COVID Safe rules apply).
