South Burnett CTC - Working For Our Community
Yarraman Markets
The Yarraman Progress Association's Yarraman Markets will be held on the vacant block at the corner of the D'Aguilar and New England Highways in Yarraman from 7:00am until around 12:00 noon today (ie opposite Bendigo Bank). The markets feature trash and treasure stalls, car boot sellers, local produce and hand-made goods, as well as food stalls, and are held on the second Saturday of every month. Nanango Bookfest
A Bookfest will be held at Taras Hall next to Nanango RSL in George Street, Nanango from 10:00am to 4:00pm today. The Bookfest will offer thousands of pre-loved books and magazines at bargain basement prices, and everyone is welcome to come and browse the stacks.
Dance - Booie Hall
A dance will be held at Booie Hall at 1867 Booie Road, Booie from 8:00pm until late tonight. Music will be supplied by Mark's Music and there'll be supper, novelties and a lucky door prize. Admission is $10 for adults, or $5 for high school students and non-dancers. Everyone is welcome - especially younger people - and you can find out more by phoning Marie on 0439-794-027.
Wooroolin Community Markets
The Wooroolin Community Markets will be held inside the Wooroolin QCWA Rooms on the Bunya Highway at Wooroolin from 6:00am until around 12:00 noon this morning. The markets offer stalls, a sausage sizzle, fresh produce, plants and crafts and are run on the 2nd Saturday of every month except January. Speedway Swap Meet - Kingaroy
The South Burnett Speedway Club will be holding a Swap Meet at Kingaroy Showgrounds in Youngman Street from 8:30am to 4:30pm today (and also from 8:30am to 11:30am tomorrow morning). Site fees are $25 - which includes overnight camping - and a canteen and bar will be operating both days. There'll also be meals available tonight for $10. More details? Phone Tanya on 0487-003-404.
Proston Men's Shed
The Proston Men's Shed will be meeting at the old railway station building at Railway Park in Rodney Street, Proston for its regular Saturday get-together today, kicking off with a cuppa around 9:00am and running until noon. New members are always welcome. More details? Phone Geoff on 0439-694-000.
Saturday Soccer - Kingaroy
While this year's football competition is still taking a school holiday break, fans needn't fear a footy-free weekend. In the Women's Division, the Gunnettes will play the Panthers in a catch-up game at Tom Alford Oval at the end of Oliver Bond Street, Kingaroy at 1:00pm; and they'll be followed with a catch-up game in the Men's Division between Barambah and the Panthers at 3:00pm. Then at 5:00pm, the action will ramp up several notches when South Burnett United play Willowburn Red in a Toowoomba Football League match, where United will no doubt be keen to avenge their first-ever TFL loss against Willowburn White last Saturday. A bar, BBQ and canteen will be running throughout the day and spectators are very welcome but since most of the TFL round will be played after sunset under lights, you should dress warmly for maximum enjoyment.
David Lynch Jr - Nanango
David Lynch Jr will be performing at the Palace Hotel in Drayton Street, Nanango from 7:00pm until later tonight. Admission is free. More details from the hotel on (07) 4163-1287.

Wondai Parkrun
The Wondai parkrun group will be holding their weekly 5km timed run at Coronation Park in Wondai at 7:00am this morning. Runners follow a course along the South Burnett Rail Trail and the parkrun group is free to join. All you need to do is register (once) online at parkrun.com.au and bring the printed barcode to any parkrun event. More details? Send an email.
National Tree Day - Kingaroy
Today is National Tree Day, and to celebrate it members of the Society for Growing Australian Native Plants will be carrying out weeding and planting in the Carroll Nature Reserve in Coral Street, Kingaroy (turn left at thew top of Fisher Street) from 9:00am this morning. South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip
Noosaville's Outbike Australia will be running a South Burnett Rail Trail Day Trip for cyclists today. The day trip will pick up participants at Noosa, Noosaville and Gympie and will offer three options: an easy ride from Kingaroy to Murgon (45km sealed); a hard ride from Murgon to Kilkivan (45km unsealed); and an extreme 90km ride from Kingaroy to Kilkivan. Bus fares are $120 return from Noosa, and bikes can be hired for $20 if you don't have your own. South Burnett locals are also welcome to take part, and there's $40 rider and bike transfers from Kilkivan to Kingaroy available if you need help getting back home. More details? Murgon Men's Shed
The Murgon Men's Shed will be holding a meeting at their shed in Macalister Street, Murgon (the former Murgon Railway Station) today. The Men's Shed meets every Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday to work on projects and new members are always welcome.
Saturday Rugby League - Kingaroy
Rugby League fans will be spoiled for choice today, with three great games pencilled in for T.J. O'Neill Oval in Youngman Street, Kingaroy. The action will kick off at 2:00pm with an Under-18s game between the South Burnett and Brothers. This will be followed at 3:30pm with an A-grade clash between Murgon's Mustangs and Nanango's Stags, and then a second A-grade tussle at 5:00pm between Kingaroy's Red Ants and Cherbourg's Hornets. A bar and canteen will be operating in the grounds and spectators are very welcome.
Men's Saturday Bowls - Yarraman
