Meet Liz Livingstone, the new Director of Nursing – Facility Manager at Kingaroy Hospital.

Liz has almost 40 years of nursing experience and is a Registered Nurse and midwife.

She began her career in Brisbane and completed her training at St Andrew’s War Memorial Hospital and midwifery training at Royal Women’s Hospital.

After a trip overseas, she moved to the Atherton Tablelands where she worked at the local hospital and met and married her husband.

The family later moved to Weipa where Liz worked for the Cape York Hospital and Health Service.

This was followed by hospitals at Cairns and Mackay.

Most recently, she was based at Clermont Multi Purpose Health Service where she was the Director of Nursing/ Facility Manager for four years.

Liz said she was drawn to Kingaroy because of its location and lifestyle.

“I really enjoyed my time living in Far North and Central Queensland, but I missed my family at the Sunshine Coast and Brisbane so it’s nice to be back within driving distance of them,” she said.

“I find Kingaroy and the South Burnett to be very interesting and scenic and my husband and I are enjoying exploring the region on our motorbike and currently looking for a home.

“Kingaroy Hospital is a very busy health service and the staff are committed to providing a high standard of patient care at all times regardless of the circumstances, they go above and beyond.

“I am enjoying being part of such a diligent team that is focused on continuing to provide the highest quality care we can possibly deliver, and see my role as ensuring we have the best people, resources and environment to support us on this journey.”

DON Rural South Burnett Margaret Wedge welcomed Liz to her new role and said the Darling Downs Hospital and Health Service would benefit from her wealth of experience and strong leadership skills.

“We would also like to acknowledge the great work done by the previous Kingaroy Hospital DON Mark White, acting DON Stacey Smith and acting DON Aschleigh Perring.”
