The South Burnett Regional Council and BIEDO will be hosting two community barbecues next month for victims of the Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve storms

The South Burnett Regional Council will be hosting two free Storm Recovery Community Barbecues in February for people impacted by the Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve storms.

The barbecues will provide an opportunity to connect with others and hear about what resources, information and support is available to assist South Burnett residents with their storm recovery efforts.

The events will also provide an opportunity to thank BlazeAid volunteers who have been working in the region.

The South Burnett Regional Council did not suffer enough damage to public infrastructure from the storms to trip the threshold for disaster assistance.

However, many landowners in the worst-affected parts of the region suffered significant damage to buildings, fencing and crops.

The barbecues will be held at Kumbia Memorial Hall on Sunday, February 25 from 3:30pm to 7:30pm, and at Mondure Hall on Sunday, March 4 from 3:30pm to 7:30pm.

Both events are being organised on Council’s behalf by BIEDO (the Burnett Inland Economic Development Organisation).
