Elke and Lucy (two of my three daughters) and my husband Jason ... all my family, friends and supporters were an incredible help in the recent State election, and I'm very humbled to have been returned for a third term as Nanango's respresentative in State Parliament

December 15, 2017

With the State election results confirmed, I would like to thank you, the residents of the Nanango Electorate, for putting your faith in me to continue as your representative in the State Parliament.

I am humbled by the election results for our electorate and I will continue to fight for our fair share in our region.

And if you didn’t vote for me, I respect and value that our democracy allows differences of opinions. I hope that I can earn your trust during the next term and would welcome your feedback at any time.

I would also like to acknowledge the volunteers, friends and family who have done so much over the past weeks and months to support me and the LNP.

It has also been an honour to have been elected as leader of the Liberal National Party in Queensland. This position will enable me to promote our region to a level that hasn’t been possible for many years.

It will put our area on the map and allow strong representation on our local issues.

I’m now looking forward to getting on with the job and continuing to represent this wonderful region.

My passion and commitment to keep working hard for our community is as strong as ever and I hope to see you out and about on my travels around the electorate.

Presenting Nanango Local Hero, Jakeb Dugdell, with his $250 grant ... I'm confident this great young athlete can go a long way in his chosen sport

Early Christmas Present For Local Heroes

It was great to deliver an early Christmas present to Nanango local, Jakeb Dugdell who was one of four successful applicants in Round 4 of my Local Hero Grants program.

Jakeb received $250 to help him in his pursuit of becoming a professional BMX rider and potentially attending the 2020 Olympic Games.

This talented rider has already represented Australia recently in China at the World Championships for BMX riding and I think he has a very bright future ahead.

My Local Hero Grants are about supporting local people like Jakeb to attend major sporting events, as well as providing access to funding for community groups who need that little bit of extra assistance to run their event or purchase a small piece of equipment.

The other successful applicants in Round Four are the Goomeri Lions Club for their annual Christmas Carnival, the Toogoolawah Christmas Tree and the Esk Community Christmas Tree.

These clubs are using their $250 grants to help run their annual Christmas events and I’m so pleased I could help brighten Christmas for the people in these towns.

These are small, but meaningful grants designed to recognise and reward our quiet achievers.

Round 5 of my Local Hero Grants will close on March 31 and the winners will be announced in early April. Head to my website at www.debfrecklington.com.au for details of how to apply.
