A young woman has been airlifted to hospital after a water ski accident at Boondooma Dam.

An RACQ LifeFlight spokesperson said the woman was tubing on the lake when the accident occurred.

She was pulled unconscious from the water and treated by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics before she was met by the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter.

Co-pilot Alex Dorr said the helicopter was able to be there in under 20 minutes as they were diverted from a hospital transfer at Nanango.

“We had been tasked to Nanango Hospital for a patient transfer but just before engine shutdown, we were re-tasked to Boondooma Dam as we were the closest helicopter in the region,” he said.

UPDATE December 27: Good news! A family member has advised that the young woman is now okay and back home.
