The Department of National Parks has advised that several walking tracks in the Bunya Mountains National Park will be closed briefly next week to allow the removal of large, hazardous trees.

The trees will be removed next Tuesday and Wednesday (December 19-20).

The following walking tracks will be temporarily closed:

  • The Bunya Bunya track will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, and should be re-open on Thursday (December 21)
  • The Scenic Circuit track will be closed all day Tuesday, and re-open on Wednesday (December 20).
  • Parts of the Barker Creek track (near where it links on to the Bunya Bunya track) may be closed for periods on Wednesday.

Rangers will be on site both days to keep the public a safe distance from any potential hazards, and also to answer any queries.
