South Burnett Regional Council workers will construct a side track to guide traffic around drainage works on Parker Road, Brooklands.

A Council spokesperson said the works – about 1.7km from Ellesmere Road – were planned to start on Monday (November 27).

After the sidetrack is built, the road will be closed to allow the removal of the existing floodway and the installation of new culverts.

Bitumen will be re-laid prior to the road being opened to traffic.

The works should be completed by mid-December 2017, weather permitting.

Council also plans to begin drainage work on Monday on the corner of Mant and Markwell streets, Kingaroy.

The work will involve alterations to drainage structures and earthworks to improve water dispersion over the ground.

In order to provide a safe work environment,  the intersection of Mant and Markwell streets will be closed to through traffic.

Drivers that use this area to drop off children for school have been asked to use an alternate drop off zone for the duration of the works.

All residents within the work zone will still have access to their properties at all times.

The work is estimated to be completed by early December 2017, weather permitting.
